Wheat Gkuwimj in Tim Wbterm I'm-' Tunis. Thi re ia now liein-r exhibited in the window at the stores of Menus. Dickson and Burrows, a simple of wheat well worthy of the inspection rf the and ei-pecndly of sgri-ciilturi(ts. It was grown by Mr. Diikum, who lurniehea ua with the following particular.

It IS the lamoll Hallel.t'teiligree wheat, of which he old, lined from a friend about a handful, direct from Knglaiul, in May, 1S03. He hail it carefully ilihhled in the same month, but like other heat cniia it was ao much iujim-d by rust that a'luoat every grain was seriously pinched. iwever, he had the produce all sown on the 21st of Apr.l last; it grew well, but being a lite olid creeping variety, it is Bow only ripe, and is being commenced i lai reajieil to day. The crop, though good, is of a varied dtsoiiption, owing, he imagines to ils having been sown too late, whereby it haa been stlllittxi to some extent by the late dry weather, and also by a considerable share of rust show ing itself on the lla and stalk, though not injuring the grain to any very serious extent this, however, has rendered the crop uneven, for while many of tlie ears aie larre and uiaaay, many are sUo short ami of an iufeiior deaenp-turn even a small bed dibbled in on the 1st of April, and kept clean in garden style, shared the a.uiie fate, and looka alio stunted, and is not Vet ripe. Sojie of the largest heads are, however, quite monstrous in si.h.

They measure from eight inches to tea and a half iuchoa id length, many having 120 grains in each ear, and upwards. It may 1m remarked, by the way, aa an argument lor early sowing, that the ear of ten and a half inchea is what it called self-sown, and much earlier than the rest. Two ears he hail the curiosity to count: one had 1 18, the other 123 grains aud 011 the dibbled portion the stalks growing from a single see-1 in one ii-staiice are (and can uow seen grow ing) 87, and the other 97 fiom each root. From what he haa observed, both this season and the last, he means to sow early in March, by which he thinks the rust will be avoided, and if too forward, which may be the case from a drooping aeaaoii, he will eat down with sheep. Karly towing seems for rn-t the cuie, the perfect cure, if cure there is, aud this may bs patent to every observer, this seaaon eseially, the late sow wheat being affected by it to a much greater extent than the early.

Eating down with sheep is also recommended by high authorities. Mr. House, of miHlel-fann notoiiety.strougly recommends it, and practises it housed to a great extent. Another instance just heard of is that of Mr. Tailbv, near KyLtone, who atatra he hail lately a crop of lilty-eighl bushels per acre in a held treated thus.

Krrun tome cause or other the crop in December wa not reaped. Cattle or sheep weie turned into it, and what Ml on tbe ground waa obseived to apring up iu due time; of course, it waa kept fed down 000a-aioually with sheep, wheu seeing that it waa promising for a good aelf-sowu crop, the pad-do, waa carefully feuced up, and tilty-eight bu-diels to the acre was the result. Thit ia Ur inferior to Mr. Halletl's yield f.ir the last year, hich waa stated at I OS bushels (asi acre. Were the subject of wheat growing, aa well aa re-marks on other agricultural pnalucts, freely communicated to the useful columns of the Press aa occasion miejht occur, much benefit to tint tine-favoured, rich agi icultural district, might be the result.

They look Ihe direction from win nee they came, and soon afterwards turned off the road into llie bush. The whole time occupied in Ihe slit king.

up did notixceed minutes. Hall wore a light coat, pants, knee laaita, and a cahbagelree hat. 'I hey were well mounted and carried nothing but re-solvers, wtiich they wore- in a belt beneath their waistcoats. Mr. fSuh-lua)a-ctor Ureiinaii, with mounted troopers Lovett (Yass), Kyan Wombat), and Harry, the black tracker (Yass), were the time camped at an enclosed wattrhole on Cunningham Plains about three-quarlers of a mile from, but not in sight ol, the road on which Davis was travelling.

At some distance three men w-ere en descending a hill, and were supposed lo lie shearers. Tiny proceeded Ihe direction of the road, hut their appearance did not exe'ite any suspicion, as the- polii-c, who had bien ahout the bush lor some days previously, were not aware that an auction aale had taken place on the previous day at Murruiu-buirih, or that Mr. D.iva had been llieie ami was returning home. A fur a hpie ol a short time Sub Inspector Breiinan, who was then ou watch, his two nien being asleep, espied the men returniuu- and riding somewhat in the direction of Mnrrumburruh. He immediately recognised them at Hall, Gilbert, ami Dunn His sn.all force got to saddle, and a hot chase was given the bushrangers, who put spurs tu their horses, turning tneir Ileitis towards ilan gin, every now and then Inking hack under their amis to see wnat progress the adice were making.

Here and there Mr. Biennan ami his party lost sight of tin in through the nature ol the country, and on one occasion ihe tracks were obliterated by a flock of sheep crossing them. The trucker was then put tn work, and briskly recovered so nt. On reaclii-'g Kaiangan station the sub -inspector learnt that Ihe bushrangers had left only a few minutes previously, taking three horses out of the stable, two of them being racers, and leaving their own three in their place. By this time twn of Ihe police horses were and niher not much belter to keep up the pursuit Mr.

Brennan determined on proceeding with the bushrangers' steeds, which, althouuh in low condition, are first-class annuals. No one on the station (Mr. Miles Murphy'-) was able to give any information as to which way the gang took on leaving, and the numerous tracks about tbe place at first prevented all trace. Harry, the traiker, was, however, acute enough to try the outside of the ring of tracks and fell in with tim fresh ones. Pursuit was again commenced and followed up Douglass, the stalion of Mr.

Wei man, when the terrific hail, thunder, and lightning storm which wt experienced the same day in Yass broke over the place, completely obliterating all marks. Thus ended a very close, but unfortunately fruitless pursuit. We hear that in the long gallop Ben Hall dropped hit hat, and in order lo lighten themselves sonic of the revolvers were thrown away, and have since been found i but we cannot vou. for the accuracy of this statement. One of the horses taken from the Kaiangan atation by the bushrangers was a second-class racer lieloooing to Mr.
