Daniel brought the first railroad to this city by giving the 1(10 acres for a site in about I860. Hot Lake and Hilgard had been considered by the company. The gold headed cane presented to Major M. Stirling by the school children of Island City, December 25, 18112 and was presented to the Historical society by Anna Oliver and Margaret Anson. The spinning wheel, a gift of Anna McDonald Oliver, brought from Scotland by Mrs.

Oliver's parents who came to the Grande Ronde valley in An exact replica of the sunbon- net worn by Rebecca Lamb Smith who, with her husband crossed the II. Ilines and Major Lee Morehouse.
