Palm Beach Post, Tuesday , Nov. 26, 1968-19 Fabulous Fishing Continues On Coast let your OUTDOORS By Ed Buckow It was a fabulous fishing weekend for salt water anglers in this area, and the latest cold front should result in a continuation of the action. The unbelievable run of pompano in the waters of Lake Worth became even hotter over the weekend; Spanish mackerel and bluefish were caught in large numbers in the St. Lucie Inlet area; blues were hauled out of the surf at Hobe Sound, and kingfish and an unusual wide variety of other gamefish were landed offshore. Capt. "Mdn't know what to expect next," said the skipper. Vasser and Charles Tschopp boated 42 mackerel and four blues inside the inlet Sunday, and Tom K eerie and Joe More landed 47 mackerel and eight blues outside the inlet the same day. Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Bates came up with 29 blues and two trout casting top-water plugs in the Sun Parlor area. Johnny Crawford, of the Snook Nook at Jensen Beach, reported that bluefish were plentiful in the surf there, and that big trout were taken on the Indian River flats through Monday. During the past three days Leo Hare has landed 17 trout totaling 78 pounds. He took the fish on pi ugs . Fishing off the mouth of the Earman River, in the north end of the lake, Bert Fusco boated 65 pompano Sunday. Local tackle shop dealer George DeBay said Stanley Freid and Phillip Putnam Pitt's Football Coach Hart Quits Sunday , came up with a catch of 203 pompano totaling 324 pounds. gALKOM Pod Lytal and Roy Swanson scored a Sunday catch of 60 pomps., and Mr. and Mrs. George DeBay, Jr., and Billy DeBay IfiramWaIker!s nnrv also took a string of more than 60. en There was such a large fleet of small boats on the lake south of Peanut Island Sunday that the scene was reminiscent of the big winter Spanish mackerel runs of several years past. University officials said they accepted the resignation with "regret and friendship' for Hart. Chancellor Wesley W. Posvar read a prepared statement that began "We do this with regret. . ." When asked whether Hart resigned voluntarily or was asked to resign, Posvar said, "These things are never black and white." Pitt capped its third straight 1-9 season Saturday with a 65-9 loss to traditional rival Penn State, one of the most lopsided games since the two teams started playing each other in he 19th century. Athletic director Frank Carver said he walked into Hart's of fice this morning and talked with him for 10 or 15 minutes and Hart offered to resign. "I think you made the right decision," Carver said he told Hart. Hart, a native of Western Pennsylvania, spent 11 years coaching high school teams in the area before he moved to college ball. He was an assistant coach for one year at Kentucky and two years at Navy before he came to Pitt as head coach in 1966. He had one year to go on his contract. Hart was best known as a recruiter in the talent-rich western Pennsylvania high schools. This was to have been the year his talent came of age billed by publicists as "the year the Panther begins to growl." But it turned out the same as Hart's other two years, with losses like 63-7,48-0 and 50-17. ,(AIGHT BOU Whiskey 2,200 pounds of pomps from Saturday afternoon through Sunday.
