Page 3 Sewer Project Will Cause Detours In Fort Pierce l PHARMACY AND SURGICAL SUPPLIES BISHOP'S BOOTERY Back - to - School Sale BUSTER they said, one lane of traffic will remain open during a portion of the construction period. Construction work on the project, estimated at a cost of $25,000, was scheduled to begin Tuesday. "We hope that the project will be done in less than 90 days," Temby said. Residents in the area will be provided access to their homes, Temby said. Although parents will not be able to drop their children off in front of the Delaware School, they will have access to the school from South 10th Street and Preston Court. School buses bringing students to the school will not be affected as they normally unload at the rear, he said. FORT PIERCE - Replacement of an aging sanitary sewer line under Delaware Avenue will cause Fort Pierce motorists some inconvenience during the next several weeks as traffic is re-routed from the construction area. According to City Engineer William Temby, the middle portion of Delaware Avenue, from South Ninth to South 13th streets (the area in front of Fort Pierce Elementary School), will be torn up as the new sewer line is being installed. As a result, Temby and Lt. Fre1 Kendall of the Fort Pierce Police Department said, motorists will probably be detoured at 10th and 13th streets once construction gets under way. The jetty walkway described as a "unique project" it its dedication ceremonies last June 19 began to crumble slightly during the last two months when heavy winds sent buffeting waves across its black-topped surface. Prior to the damage, Fort Pierce City Commissioners had initiated a project to install lights along the popular fishing spot as an aid to nighttime anglers, The city had agreed to pay 75 per cent of the cost of the lights, with the county footing 25 per cent of the cost. However, the commission asked that the Corps of Engineers be contacted, to see if unallocated funds for the joint federal and local project could be secured. City Manager George Ad-kins said that he had been notified by Joe J. Koperski, chief of the Corps of Engineers' engineering division, that the corps had approved the request for federal funds covering 50 per cent of the lighting cost, reducing the city and county's share to 25 per cent each. But, Adkins said, work on the lighting project will have to be delayed until repairs are completed on the crumbling black-top surface of the jetty. Adkins said that Director of Public Works Milton Davis and City Engineer William Temby would inspect the walkway and report back to the city commission with preliminary recommendations for repairs. 1 1 1 1 1 I 1 1 1 WM ABC F F L Because only Thomas has "Color-Glo."
