It's surprising how a few sliced or chopped nuts stirred into or sprinkled on top of a casserole, or buttered vegetables gives a touch of elegance and makes it taste so much better. This is particularly true when the nuts are toasted filberts. These are those round, brown-skinned nuts that are frequently called hazelnuts. They have a wonderful warm, rich flavor and crisp texture that will enhance most any dish. You can toast filberts by stirring them in butter over medium heat until they are browned, .this in itself is an excellent sauce for green vegetables, for buttering noodles and for serving with baked potatoes. Also, you can toast them in a hot oven for 10 to 15 minutes until they are browned and crisp. See for yourself how much toasted filberts can do to enliven the flavor and texture of family supper dishes. Here are two excellent tuna recipes that are sure to become family favorites. In one. the tuna is mixed with a cream sauce and served over cooked broccoli. In the other, tuna in a cottage cheese sauce is tossed with cooked spaghetti and topped with buttery toasted filberts.
