ST. LUCIE COUNTY Don Raffey Sr. of White's Tackle says the fishing has slowed in the past week. However, there have been plenty of jack crevalles being caught in the Fort Pierce Inlet on jigs, live baits and spoons. Rough conditions on the ocean have kept most anglers from attempting to go offshore. 2. MARTIN COUNTY Jim Cargill of Hobe Sound Bait and Tackle reports great pompano action in the surf late in the morning. There have also been croakers, whiting, Spanish mackerel and bluefish in the surf. Use fresh cut shrimp, sand fleas, spoons and sardines when fishing the beach. In the Indian River, mangrove snappers are being caught near the bridge with live shrimp. There have been a few black drum caught near the bridge as well. 3. N. PALM BEACH COUNTY George Lott of Lott Bros, says the fishing has been good when you can make it out of the Palm Beach Inlet. There have been plenty of dolphins caught between 80-130 feet with trolled ballyhoos. Mike Beebe caught a 23-pound wahoo and lost another right outside the inlet with a skirted ballyhoo. There have been a few reports of king-fish, including a 42-pounder caught by Cecil Key, but they haven't been abundant. 4. S. PALM BEACH COUNTY The Sea Mist III, one of the drift boats that fish the reefs outside the Boynton Inlet, had one of their charges land a 40-pound sallflsh Wednesday morning. Daniel Mead, 16, of Buffalo, N.Y., caught the sail on a dead sardine south of the inlet. The boat also reported catches of klngflsh, bonltos, yel-lowtail and mutton snappers, triggerfish and blue runners. 1st - 11,300. fillies 3 year elds, claiming 110,000. 1M. PP Horse Jockey Wt. FRESHWATER LAKES The bass fishing has been good according to Bill Turner at Classic Bassin' in Osborne Chain of Lakes and the connecting canals. Plastic black and blue crawdads have been the best, but medium wild shiners also will work. Speckled perch are picking up and should get even better as the water temperature drops. Use live minnows in the deeper holes for the speckled perch. 6. LAKE OKEECHOBEE Nan Corbin of Slim's Fish Camp says the bass fishing has remained good with catches of up to 6 pounds. The bass have been caught mainly on live shiners, but some have been taken on plastic worms. The speckled perch have been plentiful, especially at night. They also suggest the cooler weather should only improve the conditions for speckled perch. Use live minnows or jigs. The Fishing Report runs in the Tuesday and Friday editions. Call with fishing report information Monday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at (561) 820-4440 or (800) 432-7595, ext. 4440. Fax information at any time at (561) 820-4481.
