It could happen if the trend toward color-cordinated communities continues. The possibility of neighborhood-approved house colors is considered by some landscape architects and color consultants to be a natural outgrowth of an increasing emphasis on color coordinated communities. In such communities, each house is considered part of an over-all neighborhood design. Its color is expected to blend with neighboring houses. Even flower beds and foliage become part of the total scheme. Specialists favoring this type of community say one way to achieve color-coordination Is by having the neighborhood decide on "basic . . . harmonious colors." Their wives are ignored by comparison. Yet the great majority of husbands are more concerned about staying in the good graces of the good woman than they are with keeping their automobiles running smoothly. In a recent poll, It was found that nearly all men are satisfied with their wives, although some may think that they wound up with lemons. What are some of the defects that wives suffer from? One woman may be slow in getting started when it comes to fixing breakfast. A battery recharge in the form of u good night's sleep without staying up to watch television could put her in better condition. Is she irritable and peevish? That sounds like crank-case trouble. She may be bored with household chores. Take the old girl out for u surprise weekend at a hotel or motel. She'll be easier to handle after that. "When my wife and I first got married, hardly anything went wrong," says a typical car-owning husband. "Then little things began to happen. She developed a noisy muffler, and hardly anyone she talked to could get a word in edgewise. There were all kinds of friction, screeches and knocks. My operating costs went way up. "Then I mentioned these troubles at my friendly service station. The mechanic there was helpful, although my wife doesn't come under the warranty. He suggested that I give her flowers and a present like perfume or bath oil and take her on a long trip. I took his advice. Her overall performance improved almost immediately. Her exhaust mechanism cleared up, too." There' are many ways of warming up a wife without getting her overheated. One is by telling her how nice she looks before as well as after she's been to the beauty parlor. Another Is to tell her that she dances as well as younger models.
