By Craig Dolch Palm Beach Post Staff Writer INES CITY Riding in a cart between shots and limping noticeably toward the end of the round, Casey Martin shot a one-under-par 70 on Wednesday at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament at Grenelefe Resort. Martin, who has a leg disability that causes him pain when he walks, challenged the PGA Tour ban of carts in the final stage of Q-school and got an injunction from a federal judge in Oregon last week. He's tied for 25th place. The tour decided to make carts available to all 168 players, and about 20 used them including first-round leader Scott Verplank. Verplank, one of 12 former PGA Tour winners in the field, shot a five-under 66 at Grenelefe's easier South Course, which plays at 6,700 yards and a par-71. Ver- shot a six-under-par 66 to take a one-stroke lead after 36 holes in the Senior PGA Tour qualifying tournament at Ponte Vedra Beach. First-round leader Walter Hall, David Lundstrom and Dick Hen-drickson are tied for second at five-under-par 139. FatherSon Challenge today through Sunday: 16 father son golfing tandems will compete today through Sunday at the Office Depot FatherSon Challenge at Windsor in Vero Beach. The tournament will benefit the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice Foundation. For ticket information, call 561-388-2022. Also at four-under were Keith Fergus, Bob Gilder and Blaine McCalSster. Robert Floyd, the son of Raymond Floyd, and Bruce Fleisher of Palm Beach Gardens shot 69s. Martin, 25, was a teammate of Tiger Woods at Stanford when the Cardinal won the 1994 NCAA championship. He was runner-up in the second stage of Q-school, despite a progressively worsening muscle and bone condition in his right leg. "I'd really rather walk," Martin said. "Walking is part of the game. I totally understand that. I walked when I could, but now my leg is getting worse." The top 35 players from this week earn PGA Tour cards.
