She was the daughter of Thomas Franklin Carden and Nellie Howard Garden. The Garden family moved from Tennessee to Florida in 1922. She was a member of First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, Florida where she Uught Sunday-School for many years in the Primary Department. In later years, Geneva remained active in her Sunday School Class and Senior activities. Preceded in death in 1978 by husband of 37 years, Charles A. Hays, Sr., owner-operator of Chas. Hays Gulf Service Station which was a mainstay on South Dixie Hwy for 40 years; her parents; and her brothers, John A. Carden, Wailon Carden, Wood row Garden, and Willy Carden; and by her beloved sister, Peggy Irons. Over fifty years ago, he witnessed history as a press officer in General Pat ton's 3rd Army, when he entered Buchenwald, just hours after Its liberation. Dolph also served as a member of the "Ground Observers Corp" during the cold war years, holding watch for enemy planes at the Lake Worth Casino. He was an avid fisherman, and his knitted booties are worn worldwide. Dolph leaves temporarily behind a family who adored him.
