Technical By Tom D'Angelo Palm Beach Post Staff Writer MIAMI Miami Heat guard Tim Hardaway is being considered to fill one of the two open spots on this summer's World Championship team. Hardaway was a member of the 1994 World Championship team but could not play because of a knee injury. "I would probably gO because I did miss the one in Toronto," Hardaway said. San Antonio's Tim Duncan is considered a lock to fill one of the two spots. Seattle's Vin Baker and Gary Payton, Minnesota's Tom Gugliotta and Kevin Garnett, Washington's Chris Webber, Atlanta's Christian Laettner, Charlotte's Glen Rice, Detroit's Grant Hill, Milwaukee's Terrell Brandon and New York's Allan Houston are on the team. Gugliotta and Brandon are injured and may need to be replaced. The World Championship Games are in Greece. Miller's time: Heat players thought Indiana's Reggie Miller got off light with a one-game suspension and $7,500 fine for the elbow he threw at Charlotte's Vlade Divac. The players thought the play was worse than Heat notebook Keith Askins' takedown of ; Keith Van Horn at New Jer- : sey. Askins was suspended K for two games and fined'-$10,000. . "Keith should be on the phone to (NBA Vice Pres.- ' dent) Rod Thorn (Monday)," -Hardaway said. B Mashburn gaining . flexibility: Jamal Mashburn . has begun flexibility exercises on his broken thumb, but is still unsure when he; ' will return. X-rays showed the thumb ; has not healed. Meanwhile, P.J. Brown (sprained left ankle) expects I to start running this week and , should be back April 7 at Min- 1 nesota. ' Million dollar miss: Eric Westerback shot a three point air ball at half time Sun-' ; day with a chance to win ; $1 million. Westerback, 16, ; had one shot at the prize after his mother, Chris McCarthy,' won a contest. Westerback i said he was nervous, but he ' still won $10,000. . ' 0 Noteworthy: Terry Mills, whose knee has been, ' bothering him since Wednes-day, was the only Heat player ; not to play. Percentages: FG .519, FT 70S.
