Eddie Kulisek and Carl Herxog took 70 blues Wednesday casting surface plugs In the surf just north of St. Lucie Inlet. Fishermen also took them on cut bait at Jensen Beach. There was no sign of a decrease in the bluefish action Inshore from St. Lucie Inlet. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Napoli, of the Flshin' Hole at Port Salerno, took 49 bluefish Wednesday fishing with cut bait In the Sun Parlor, located on the north inshore turn from St. Lucie Inlet. John Padgett and Clarence Pitcher, also of the Fishin' Hole, boated 27 blues and 13 weakfish fishing with cut bait in the same area. Johnny Crawford, operator of the Snook Nook at Jensen Beach, said three anglers caught 10 blues and 20 mackerel averaging four pounds apiece. Johnny said three of their mackerel were so big six to nine pounds that the fishermen had to gaff them. The anglers were Carl Blatt, Ira Henderson and Ken Outwa-ter. Pompano fishing was good In Lake Worth again Wednesday. Catches checked in at Lake Side Tackle and Seafood numbered up to two dozen pomps per fisherman. Most of the fish were taken drift fishing with sand fleas south of Peanut Island. Coates Johnson returned to Bill's Marina with a catch of 11 pompano, and Irish O'Neill, Dr. William Dyer and Bob Brunner came up with a catch of 19. All four fishermen took the fish drift fishing. Considering the present location of schools of migratory game-fish, and the wind conditions that have been forecast, coastal fishing should be excellent Friday through Sunday. The NASL announced last Friday that the league was disbanding because of financial reasons. Robert Hermann, Stars' president, said the St. Louis team would be joined by former franchises in Kansas City, Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas, Oakland, Detroit, Washington, Baltimore and New York. Hermann said the plan would be submitted Saturday to the National Commission of the United States Soccer Football Unfortunately, a guy can't be in two places at the same time. The hunting season 'tr native game begins Saturday, and a tremendous fishing weekend is shaping up. The cold front that was "unofficially" forecast by a local Weather Bureau meteorologist Tuesday ended up in a very official forecast Wednesday. This one should not fizzle or turn out to be a pussycat, and It's going to deliver bluefish and mackerel and possibly some more pompano. Meteorologist Wayne Self said Wednesday the front is barreling in this direction and should arrive in the Palm Beach area tonight. He said winds may be expected to blow out of the north for about six hours at 13 to 23 m.p.h. and then gradually decrease, swinging into the northeast Saturday afternoon. Winds ahead of the front today will be southerly and increasing. If the northerly winds follow the schedule predicted by Self, they should move a lot of fish southward. Schools of big Spanish mackerel and bluefish are in Just the right position. Wednesday they were located in the St. Lucie and Jense.i Beach areas. Brisk northerly winds are bound to turn the current and these migratory gamefish southward. Look for an increase In offshore fishing action also especially sailf ish. Strong northerly winds probably will interrupt small boat fishing activity offshore, but surf and pier fishermen should have two or three days of action. The Jensen Beach-to-June area is the stretch of coast to watch, with the activity moving progressively southward. The only trouble is that after an initial flurry of fishing activity at Jensen Beach the brisk northerly winds may foul up surf fishing condition. Commercial net fishermen hauled in the mackerel in the St. Lucie Inlet area Wednesday, and sports fishermen also took their share of mackerel and blues. The blues were caught both In the surf and in the St. Lucie estuary. The market has been so flooded Association in New York.
