3i-Palm Beach Post, Friday, November 1, 1968 Wind Shift Moves Ocean Fish Northward Hon at the Belle Glade Chamber of Commerce, Slim's Fishing Camp, J-M ark Fishing Camp orSlim's Grocery. Gil Drake's boneflshlng hot spot, the Deep Water Cay Club, located off the east end of Grand Bahama Island, will open for the season today. Big permit were taken in the area last season, and Gil Jr. found some fairly good martin fishing offshore. Reservations can be made by contacting Drake in Palm Beach. OUTDOORS By Ed Buckow Schools of bluefish and lunker Spanish mackerel backed up towards the north Thursday as the wind switched rather quickly from the northwest to east-northeast. -Apparently there just wasn't enough southerly current to keep theish moving southward oreven hold them. . Bob Kleixer and C. Emmett Waddell found action trolling just north of Jupiter Inlet early in the morning, boating 67 mackerel and 11 blues. The mackerel averaged two to three pounds, but some of them weighed in excess of five pounds. Easterly winds of 12-20 m.p.h. were predicted for today. ' Light catches of blues and pompano were scored on Lake Worth Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wolfe encountered some large blues fishing with cut bait in the north end of the lake. They boated nine that weighed three to five pounds. On the fresh water scene, large catches of speckled perch were again made off the mouth of the north end of Government Cut on the north shore of Lake Okeechobee.
