Either way, it's pretty raging. If a live band fits your audio needs more than a DJ, Abaco's also plays host to some of the most popular bands in Palm Beach County on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Doorway 27, Livid Kittens, The Groovenics, Boxelder, IN-HOUSE, Boss Groove and more stop off at Abaco's on a regular basis to get the Boat rocking. "I never book a band unless I've seen or heard them, and I know I like them. ... I like sticking with bands that have good musical integrity," says manager Andrew Logun of his live entertainment "We used to have just one guy playing in the corner, but we've evolved since then," says Logun. "We like to have what keeps the crowds." Abaco's Oyster Boat is at 6186 S. Congress Ave., Lanta-na. Phone: 641-0373. But Abaco's is ac tually a seafood restaurant and one of Lantana's most popular hangouts. And the catch-of- the-day isn't the only thing being served. The first thing you notice are sharks, surfboards, nautical knickknacks and an "ocean wave" mural on the walls. There are two wide-screen pro jection televisions and a dozen smaller sets for the sports crowd. There are also pool tables, video names and surf, skate board and snowboard videos showing (when "the game" isn t) to keep you entertained while you chow. Abaco s has ereat food the conch fritters and fish sandwiches (Floribbean cuisine) are some of the best I've eaten. But it's what comes out of the speakers, not the kitchen, that gives the joint its night-life appeal. price for students with ID. Phone 997-8846.
