Palm Beach Post-Times, Sunday, December 12, 1976-A19 Girl in Bubble Will Be Exposed to a World of Germs PEOPLE J husband, former U.S. Navy Secretary John Warner, have arrived in London for a five-day stay. The 44-year-old actress flew in yesterday from Israel where she and Warner had been vacationing following their marriage a week ago at Warner's farm in northern Virginia. "I've brought John to London to show him off to friends and family," the new Mrs. Warner said. "We won't be spending Christmas in London we're going to be with my children in Gstaad." The couple will be staying at the Dorchester Hotel, where by coincidence Richard Burton and his new wife Suzi Hunt plan to stay when they arrive from Canada in a few days. the Italian Chemical Workers' Federation. He plans to attend the federation's national congress in Florence Monday-Wednesday, and hold a concert for the cause of democracy in Spain. Richardson Hopeful Commerce Secretary Elliot Richardson says he wants to be the Republican presidential nominee in four years, or, failing that, governor of Massachusetts in 1978, it was reported yesterday. He grew thymus tissue in a laboratory, then mixed it into a fluid for injection into the patient's stomach area. Somehow, the tissue activates the body's immunity system. Dr. James F. Jones, a University of Arizona pediatrician, injected the fluid, and doctors have watched Penny improve to the point where her parents have been allowed to hold her. From Pott Wirt Strvlcti An Arizona child encased in a protective bubble since birth, gradually is being exposed to a world containing germs that months ago would have killed her. The 13-month-old girl was born without a thymus, a gland in the neck which helps in the development of an immunity system. Even common germs were dangerous to the child, identified only as "Penny." Common infections took the lives of two other children in her family with the same condition. Doctors who delivered Penny recognized her problem at birth and immediately transferred her to a germ-proof room at the University of Arizona Hospital in Tucson. Her parents could only watch through the glass doors of the plastic-covered room while the nurses "I think it will be much longer than I would wish before I can return home," Biermann said. "But I think I will return home much sooner than those who expelled me would like." Biermann, deprived of his citizenship while touring West Germany, arrived by plane from Hamburg for a one-week visit at the invitation of She is expected to go home in January.
