TUESDAY, MARCH 24, 1998 P4B THE PALM BEACH POST Area deaths :The Rev. James Lawrence Williams, 84 rector of Bethesda-By-The-Sea, serving from 1961-1964. "He was sociable and very likable," said the Rev. Robert Pollard of Bethesda. The Rev. Williams wrote two books and also served as rector at churches in Virginia, Oklahoma and Bad Godesberg, Germany. Survivors include his daughter, Judith Washam; a son, Ian Williams; and four :He was the eighth irector of Palm Beach's Bethesda-By-The-Sea from 1961 to 1964 By David Abel Palm Beach Post Staff Writer The Rev. James Lawrence Williams, a retired Episcopal Clergyman who served as the ! irector of the Bethesda-By-The-pea Church in Palm Beach, died Sheikh Tamimi, 86, sought peace with Israel on Saturday. He was 84. The Rev. Williams was born in Westmoreland County, Va. He studied at universities in Virginia, Minnesota and Bonn, Germany. And for two years, he served as the principal of Cople School in The Hague, Va. He was ordained as an Episcopal minister in 1947, after serving as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the eighth Obituaries he was a Muslim clergyman active in the radical Hezb Tahrir, or Liberation Party. In Jordan, Sheikh Tamimi led the Jihad al-Islami Beit al-Maqdes, which is Arabic for the Islamic Struggle-Jerusalem. The militant Palestinian group long advocated violent confrontation with Israel. It claimed responsibility for several anti-Israeli incidents, including a 1990 attack on an Israeli tourist bus in southern Egypt Islamic Struggle-Jerusalem was believed to have gotten financing from Iran until the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, when the group sided with Iraq, angering Tehran. Wolff, one of Ness' men MASON, Ohio Albert H. Wolff, 95, the last surviving member of Eliot Ness' group of U.S. Treasury agents known as the "Untouchables," died Saturday. The "Untouchables," named for their unwillingness to take bribes from mobsters such as Al Capone, were portrayed in a TV show and the film the Untouchables. Mr. Wolff was a technical consultant during filming of the 1987 film and showed actor Kevin Costner how officers walked and held a gun during that period. In 1945, Mr. Wolff retired from public service and entered the restaurant business. He was 86. o, , Sheikh Tamimi was buried in an Amman cemetery on Sunday following the Muslim noon prayers. More than 1,000 people, including members of the Jordanian Parliament and Palestinian officials, attended the funeral, which was interrupted by shouts of'Allahu Akbar," the Muslim rallying cry meaning God is Great. Sheikh Tamimi was deported from Hebron shortly after the 1967 Middle East War for resisting the Israeli occupation.
