The Ember9 Restaurant ha8 been open since April in the location formerly known as Chepen's Charcoal Galley. The new owner is Bob Messick with management by Ken Carpenter. Messick has been in the Palm Beache9 four years in non-restaurant businesses, but in Elkhart, Indiana he was in the wholesale meat cutting business with his Dad. Carpenter has really been around in the restaurant field across the country and Canada, and here ran the Banyan Restaurant that was at Lakeview and South Olive years ago with his Dad, and most recently managed the Brass Lantern (Rain Dancer) and Henry's Drugs for 10 years. All of the meat at the Embers is cut on premises by Messick, and he grinds the chopped steak from the Prime Rib trimmings. Prime Rib, a regular $5.95 special at the Embers, is a house favorite, along with other steaks that are grilled in sight on an open pit. There is also a complete seafood menu with four Surf & Turf ana four Lobster Newburg selections: Lobster, Shrimp, Scallops and King Crab, or either of the two styles from $7.95 to $10.95 (in combo for the latter).
