In this city, the Chamber of Commerce has a book which lists, step by step, all the legal data necessary before you can open your ice cream parlor, nightclub or print shop. The information was gathered by two Florida Atlantic University students, Jennifer Hume and Sharon Martin, as part of a financial systems class assignment under the direction of accounting Instructor Tom Fuller. The book, "How To Incorporate a Business and Commence Operations in Boca Raton," was developed at the suggestion of F. C. (Bud) Stewart, executive director for the chamber. The book also Is being used by the chamber, according to Stewart. Although the Information utilizes zoning, sign and parking ordinances from Boca Raton, the bulk of data Is applicable to any community, Fuller said. "It also tells where and when to file what at the county, state and federal level," Since he announced the completed project In a Chamber of Commerce publication, Stewart has received requests for copies from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, state groups and from Tuscaloosa, Ala. Many of the inquiries Involve college and university communities where the local Chamber of Commerce Is hoping that students can develop a similar book for local use.
