Who knows? Philip, 10, recently sold his first artwork - a picture of an eagle - which was on display at the recent Lake Worth Art League's mini-show. His mother Patricia Kornegay said the woman who bought it phoned and said it was being sent to Canada. It could be said, then, that Philip has an international reputation. His brother Daniel, 8, also had work on display at the show, as did Mrs. Kornegay. This past summer, Philip took the art course for children at the Norton Gallery in West Palm Beach, Mrs. Kornegay said. In September, the three of them joined the Jesus Christ," Mrs. Kornegay said. Mrs. Kornegay said she also plays the piano "a little bit" and has tried teaching Daniel and Philip how to play it. Philip also is learning to play the trumpet at school. Daniel and Philip are in advanced classes at Kirklane Elementary School. They both like art, and Mrs. Kornegay said, "It helps when children have grandparents who are always sending them packages of drawing paper, crayons and things." Daniel also likes to make puppets. He said he would like to be either an artist or an explorer when he grows up. Philip, whose favorite subject in school is math, would like to be either a scientist or an artist. Lake Worth Art League and were asked to display work in the show. Mrs. Kornegay said she had done some paintings at home but had not done too much with art since her schooldays. Both her mother and father were artists, she said, and her paternal grandmother began painting when she was in her 70s. Daniel does drawings for the Sunday School bulletin at Community Christian Church. Mrs. Kornegay paints with oils and water-colors. She said she also has done pencil sketches of the Sunday School teachers for the Sunday School bulletin. Her husband David is an elder in the church.
