Snyder will "try to work out the contract differences with McAdoo with or without his agent," a team spokesman said. The New York Knicks and the Seattle SuperSonics were hoping to acquire the three-time National Basketball Association scoring champion, but Snyder's brief announcement appeared to have stymied their plans. "Snyder is now leaning toward not dealing McAdoo to the Knicks and there is a good possibility we may not trade McAdoo to anyone at all," the spokesman said. The Braves now are paying McAdoo, in the final year of his five-year contract, $400,000 annually- $200,000 in cash and $200,000 in deferred payments. BASEBALL - Monte Moore, the baseball broadcaster who has worked for Oakland A's owner Charles 0. Finley for 15 years, apparently is now out of a job. He said the A's office told him recently he'd been taken off the payroll as of Oct. 31. FOOTBALL - Maryland coach Jerry Claiborne is among the top contenders to succeed Darrell Royal as head coach at the University of Texas. Maryland Athletic Director Jim Kehoe said Texas officials had requested permission to contact Claiborne about the job. Claiborne said, "Would I be interested in talking to them? Yes, I would. With the tradition Texas has, I'd have to be interested." Texas officials said, however, five other prospects may also be interviewed . . . Speculation about the future Arkansas football coach has turned to former Razor-back assistant Bo Rein, who has replaced New York Jets' coach Lou Holtz at North Carolina State last year. Though sources have said Holtz was the top candidate, Holtz has agreed to return to the Jets next season. Others under consideration are Wyoming coach Jimmy Johnson . . . (AP) - The National Collegiate Athletic Association has imposed penalties against the University of Kentucky athletic department for recruiting violations, it was reported yesterday. According to the report, Kentucky's football and basketball programs for the 1976-77 school year have been penalized as a result of an NCAA investigation. The Kentucky football program has been placed on probation for two years, although actual sanctions will be imposed for only one year. Under the sanctions, the Wildcats will not be allowed to participate in any postseason football bowl games or televised games next season, the report said. In addition, five of Kentucky's 30 football scholarships will be forfeited for one year. "Reliable sources" in the Kentucky athletic department allegedly said the NCAA's sanctions made no mention of disciplinary action against Kentucky football coach. Fran Curci. The only penalty imposed against Kentucky's basketball program is a reduction of scholarships allowed next year, the report said. i ( jfvSX AMERICA'S 1ST MOTORIZED BICYCLE.
