Several neighbors very pleasantly surprised Mrs. Fred Horsel last Saturday evening. The gathering was in honor of her birthday. EWE pronounced success, musically, socially and financially. In the last two num hers, and especially in his'trerrditjoli of the 1'nrnphraso do Concert toir I' Opera, Miss Helen Volck entertained a num ber bf her friends at her bomu in Harmony Saturday evening.

A busi ness session occupied tho first part ol the evening-and tho following officers for the coming year were elected: President, Br. Bjlliaa Fowler; vice-president, Maude Cera Id; secretary. The topic for the evening studv was Medical issions and i wuh in charge of Br. Thompson, who for several years was engaged in medical mission work in Burma. Willi the assistance of Master Bonn Id Thompson and several of the young ladies Br. Thompson presented six scenes, repre senting actual occurrences in her work in Burma. The main thought through the various scenes was to show the de plorablu condition of woman in heathen countries.

A very program was given and an enjoyable time was spent. The Beta Thetu Pi fraternity will entertain twelve members of the Phi Oatiima Bella fraternity nt dinner today. During the week they had as dinner guests, on Tuesday Mr, and Mrs. Harold II. Grady.

On Thursday Dr. If. S. Bennett of the law department at the I'liiversity was ft guest. The Collegiate Alumnae will entertain Mrs.

Three new-members were adMed at this meet in. Tho North Fnd Social club gave a surprise party for Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bally Wednesday evening, barely escaping being themselves the ietims of a surprise. Mr.

The Ladies' Aid und Ladies' Missionary societies of the Presbyterian church held a joint annual meeting at the church Thursday afternoon nt which the annual reports of both societies were received, showing successful work. The Ladies' Aid has giv-cu eight entertain men ts anil has paid penses of the church.

Officers were elected for tho ensuing year as fol lows: Mrs. It. E. McDaniels, president; Mrs. J.

The Missionary society reports showed a 2o per cent increuse in subscriptions to the missionary magazines ami a distribution of tho monies collected was made to the several foreign ami home mission boards and frecdmeu.

The country home of Mr. W. T. Simmons, between Eugene and Junction City, was the scene of a very pleasant gathering Monday iu honor of W. T.

Simmons and Miss Isabella Gris-son, whose birthdays fall on March 1. The rooms were tastefully decorated with evergreens and bine ribbons won by Mrs. Simmous at the various couu-t fairs. A pleasant evening was spent iti music ami various games. At a late hour a very elaborate luncheon was served cafeteria stvle.
