A widow in her middle sixties complains that the couples she and her husband used to see a great deal of have little time for her now that she is a lone woman. She feels neglected and resentful and lonely, especially on holidays when others are busy with their own plans while she sits at home alone.

There's a simple answer to her problem if she will only take it. And that is to make new friends among women who, like herself, are alone and lonely. Why. should she sit at home alone when she could look around for others as alone and lonely as she Is and make the first gesture toward friendship with some of them? MAKE NEW FRIENDS IF OLD ONES FORGET The next time a holiday draws near, instead of waiting and hoping to be invited out, why doesn't she look around and find several other lonely persons and Invite them to her home? Preparing for them will keep her busy and occupied. Giving them a happy day will make her own day happy.

And In time her hospitality will be returned. She will find that she is no longer feeling left out and neglected. When a widow can't hang on to the remnants of her old life there is only one sensible thing for her to do, and that is to start building a new life for herself. Because old friends don't seem to have time for her is no reason why she shouldn't start making new friends among women who will have time for her. It is bound to hurt when old friends start drifting away.

But it -won't hurt nearly so much if the neglected person gets busy replacing the old friends with new ones. No one is ever too old to do that.
