STUDENT OF MONTH February student-of-the-month at Lake City is Virginia (Ginger) Owens, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Owens.

She is a junior, and secretary of the student council. For three years she has been on 1 the honor roll, in the Pep club, on the staff of the school paper "Eagles in Y-teens, Miss Owens and in vocal music. She is a Y-teen cabinet member, and treasurer of the northwest Iowa district Y- teens. She is a member of the Speech and Drama club and was in the junior play cast, and in the one-act plays. This year she is one of the school's cheer-leaders.

In past years she has been in band, has been a class officer, and a sophomore prom server. She has been a Rainbow girl for three years and is worthy adviser at the present time. She is a member of the Presbyterian church, sings in its choir, and is vice president of its youth organization. IN FFA CONTEST F.F.A. boys who participated in the sub-district F.F.A.

contest at Odebolt Wednesday evening of this week were Mike Stotts and Jim Finley, chapter program; Dale Ausborn, public speaking; Howard Davis, extemporaneous speaking; Steven Doty, creed speaking; and the parliamentary procedure team, Tom Reaman, Jerome Dial, Tom Engstrom, Gary Brtsbois, and Mark Toyne. And Jesus answered him saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." For us too Lent should be a time of study and reflection on the word of God that we may do well the work that has been set out for us. BOWLING PARTY The industrial arts club spons- sored a bowling party at the Lake City Bowling Lanes last Friday night. About 30 attended. BAND CONCERT The Lake City high school's concert band was enthusiastically received by the audience in its program of modern music last Sunday afternoon in the high school from the following musical comedies: Oklahoma, Fantasy, Can- Can, The King and South Pacific, Gigi, The Magnificent Seven; also the following, Wunderland bei Nacht, Hawaiian Medley, Arranger's Holiday, George Gershwin's selections, and The Twist, Robert Head is the director. In April a "Parade of Bands" is promised including the junior high band, the sixth grade band, and the concert band. SORORITY MEETS Miss Louroe Stuckenbruck was hostess to Nu Chapter Alpha Delta Kappa Tuesday evening of this week with Mrs.

Russell Richardson as co-hostess. Theme of the evening was "Life and the speakers were Mario Lise', exchange student from Saarbrucken, Germany, and Mrs. Earle Stuckenbruck, who has lived for a number of years at Tue- bigen, Germany. Mario discussed life in the industrial area of southwest Germany, and also spoke of the German school system in comparison with that of the United States. Mrs.

Stuckenbruck made supplemental comments, and she also discussed the German elementary school; and compared German food with ours. The chapter has been invited to attend the Sac City ADK on March 5. Mrs. Raymond Beck of Rockwell City was a guest of the evening. SCHOOL NOTES Mr.

and Mrs. Roger McCulley entertained members of the faculty at their home for coffee last Saturday evening following the sectional girls basketball finals. Supt. Wendell Johnson spoke on school taxes and the school budget this week at the meeting of the Women's Monday Club, and that of the Lake City Jaycees.
