Paige A2 Pharos-Tribune, Logansport, Indiana, Sunday, April 14,1991 Obituaries Lester L. Guyer FLORA Services for Lester L. Guyer, 80, of 507 E. Columbia will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Reinke Funeral Home.

He died at 8:35 a.m. Friday in the Brethren Home. Bom March 11, 1911, in Harrisonburg, he was the son of Oscar Lee and Nina Dedrick Guyer. On Nov. 23, 1935, he was married in Deer Creek to Jean Cripe, who survives.

In November of 1935. he went into business with D. Elmer Cripe and Wayne Crook as co-owners of D.E. Cripe a department store in Flora. After Cripe and Crook became ill, he continued to operate the business until his retirement in 1988.

The business was sold one year later. A 1929 graduate of Elida (Ohio) High School, he graduated in 1934 from Manchester College. He was a member of Flora First Brethren Church and also belonged to the Flora Community Club. Also surviving are three sons, Thomas Lee Guyer, Richland, and Ned Guyer and Terry Cripe, both of Kokomo; one daughter, Ann Humphrey. Flora; one sister, Ethel Holtzapple, Worthington, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren.

The Rev, Alvin Grumbling will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. APRIL 12,1991 William B.

Werner KEWANNA Private graveside services for William B. Werner, 91, Station House Apartments, will be held Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lake Bruce. Formerly of Rt. 1. Lake Bruce, he died at 9:15 p.m.

Friday in Pulaski Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 16. 1900, in Harrison Township, Pulaski County, he was the son of William and Hattie Kline Werner. On June 11, 1937, he was married in Kokomo to Margaret M.

Hunneshagen, who survives. For 33 years, he worked as an egg inspector for the state. He was a retired employee of The Kewanna Observer. In 1922. he graduated from Purdue University.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and Navy. He was a member of the Kewanna United Methodist Church. Since 1922. he had belonged to Winamac Lodge No. 262, He was also a charter member of Lambda Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and the American Brown Leghorn Club.

He was a life-member of the Indiana State Poultry Association. Also surviving are one son, William Carmel; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. dne son. two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. A Masonic service will be held at the burial.

Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. APRIL 12,1991 Lora Jane Herndon FLORA Lora Jane Herndon, 66, Rt. 1. Flora, died at 4:23 p.m. Friday in St.

Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She was bom Aug. 25, 1924, in Carroll County's Monroe Township to David and Martha Stinebaugh Wise. She was married Dec. 7, 1945, in Flora to John D.

Herndon who died Sept. 3. 1982. She was a member of the Flora chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority and the Flora Church of the Brethren. She was a 1942 graduate of Flora High School.

Surviving are one daughter, Diane Routt, Flora; one son, Alan, Newton, and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reinke Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Keller officiating. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flora Church of the Brethren. APRIL 12, 1991 Dulen M. Hicks PERU Services for Dulen M.

Hicks, 55, 310 Tyler will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Chapel. He died at 4:07 a.m. Saturday in Dukes Memorial Hospital. Born March 9.

1936. in Campbell, he was the son of Albert and Ethel Martin Hicks, In 1971, he was married to Rennie Lunsford, who survives. In 1990, he retired from Guildcrest Furniture after 25 years. He was a member of Literary Aid. Also surviving are five brothers, Bunis, Denver, Benois, Mexico, Melvis, Logansport.

Landin and Grant, both of Peru; two sisters, Ruby Lay and Azaleen Baker, both of Peru; and five stepchildren. The Rev. Tony Guy and the Rev. Gene Ousley will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Crest Memorial Park Cemetery.

37, 525 W. Seventh will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in St. Charles Catholic Church. He was found dead at approximately 6 a.m.

Saturday. Born Nov. 1. 1953, in Peru, he was the son of Gerald and Edith Jones Ramer. who survive.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Also surviving are two sons, Tony Riggle, Albion, and Mike Ramer, Peru; two daughters.

Mary Ramer and Shannon Ramer, both of Peru; one brother. Charles Ramer. Peru; and one sister, Kathy Sipe, Peru. The Rev. Edward Stone will officiate at the services.

Wednesday in Faith Lutheran Church. He died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, in Heart of Florida Hospital, Haines City, Fla. Born Dec. 26, 1913, in Logansport, he was the son of Elmer and Ethel Hislop Kobel.

On July 16, 1938, he was married in Peru to Margaret Gangloff, who survives. In 1981, he retired after 40 years as co-owner of Tire Service, 711 Burlington Ave. In the winter, he lived in Lakewood Camp Grounds, Davenport, Fla. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. One sister and brother preceded him in death.

The Rev. Jerry Schultz will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. No visitation hours will be held. McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

APRIL 2,1991 James A. Long WINAMAC Services for James A. Long, 22, Rt. 1, Box 23, Monterey, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Frain Mortuary.

Ill for one year, he died at 5:45 a.m. Friday in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Bom Sept. 14, 1968, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Fred J. and Joyce E.

Varner Long, Monterey. He was a lifelong resident of Monterey. A 1987 graduate of Culver Community High School, he was employed as a material handler at Plymouth Tube Co. Also surviving are two brothers, Fred J. Jr.

and Steve, both of Monterey; paternal grandparents Roger E. and Mary Long, Monterey; and maternal grandmother, Mabel Varner, Shirleysburg, Pa. The Rev. Jim Pradke will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday in the mortuary. APRIL 12,1991 Mary M. Sterner Graveside services for Mary M.

Sterner, 69, 114 E. Miami will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery. She died at 6:10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 8, 1921, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Thomas and Olive Yeater Carey. On Aug. 23, 1946, she was married in Logansport to Rex "Bud" R. Sterner, who survives.

In 1981, she retired from R.B.M. after 41 years with the company. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Also surviving are one brother, James Carey, 922 Helm and several nieces and nephews. The Rev.

Fred FLORA Graveside services for Mary E. Fred, 70, Rt. 1, Cutler, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Russiaville Cemetery, Russiaville. She died at 11:07 a.m.

Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo. Born Dec. 16, 1920, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Sherman and Carrie Snyder Hunt. On Sept.

5, 1945, she was married in Russiaville to James A. Fred, who survives. She was a homemaker. Also surviving are two sons, James David, South Bend, and Mark Andrew, Logansport; five sisters, Mable O'Donnell and Frances Creason, both of Kokomo, Doris Smith, Macy, Joyce Smith, Rochester, and Nancy Ride- nauer, Wabash; two brothers, J.D. Hunt, Washington state, and Doyal Hunt, Peru; and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Barbara Lloyd will officiate at the services. No visitation hours will be held. Reinke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. APRIL 11,1991 Rosemary Ronk GALVESTON Services for Rosemary Ronk, 59, Rt.

2, Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Murray Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel. She died at 9 p.m. Thursday in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born May 6, 1931, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Shelby and Dorthy McCrafrey Franklin. On Feb. 14, 1970, she was married to Rex Ronk, who survives. A resident of Galveston most of her life, she had retired in 1984 after 30 years from Delco Electronics in Kokomo and was working as a realtor for Century 21 in Logansport. She was a member of the Logansport Board of Realtors and the Logansport Realtors Association.

She was a member of the United Auto Workers No. 292 in Kokomo. A member of Logansport Business Professional Women, she was the club's vice president. She had also been active in the Cass County chapter of Big Sisters. She attended Main Street United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are five daughters, Roseann Masavage, Michigantown, Robin Deeter, Coconut Creek, Angela Weitzel, Westfield, and Cindy Seals and Patty Richey, both of Galveston; two sons, Allen Kirkendall, Frankfort, and Kim Kirkendall, Coral Springs, four brothers, Benjamin Franklin, Toledo, Ohio, Bill Franklin, Martinsburg, W. Phillip Franklin, Kokomo, and Shelby Franklin, Oakville; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two sisters preceded in death. The Rev. Emmett Anderson will officiate at the services.

Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. APRIL 11,1991 Leonard H. Clawson DELPHI Services for Leonard H. Clawson, 89, formerly of Rt.

4, Delphi, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Horn Funeral Home. He died at 3:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.

Born May 18, 1901, in Radnor, he was the son of Harvey Lewis and Ella Ashba Clawson. on Oct. 25,1919, in Delphi, he was married to Hannah Ridder, who died in 1977. On Nov. 29, 1980, in Pyrmont, he was married to Lena Lempster, who died in 1986.

He was a long-time Carroll County farmer, retiring in 1964. He was also retired as a bus driver for the Madison Township schools and Delphi Community School Corporation. He was a lifetime member of the Radnor United Methodist Church; a member of the Carroll County Farm Bureau, where formerly he served as secretary; a member of the Delphi I.O.O.F. Lodge; and a member of the former Welcome Inn Grange in Radnor. Survivors include two daughters, Leila Humberd, Warsaw, and Kathleen Cleaver, Rt.

4, Delphi; one son, Wayne Rt. 4, Delphi; two sisters, Florence, Porter, Rt. 1, Bringhurst, and Chestine Witter, Ockley; one brother, Fred, Flora; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two step-great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one step-great-great-granddaughter. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. The Rev.

Eric Stoops will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery near Flora. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. APRIL 13,1991 James 'Mick' J.

Murphy MONTICELLO Services for James "Mick" J. Murphy, 54, of 501 Shafer Drive, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Recovering from his second bypass surgery, he died at 8 p.m. Thursday in his residence.

Born Nov. 25,1936, in Lafayette, he was the son of James A. and Helen L. Murphy Murphy. On Sept.

12,1955, he was married in Michigan City to Joyce A. Swango, who survives. A graduate of Pine Township High School, he received his bachelor of arts degree in 1955 and his master's degree in 1958 from Indiana State University. For 25 years, he was a business teacher at Tri County High School, where he also coached girls' golf for several years and was the official scorekeeper for the boys' basketball team. He had also worked as a guidance counselor at the high school.

Prior to teaching at Tri County, he had taught at Burnettsville and Frontier high schools. An avid golfer and bowler, he was a member of Carroll's Trucking Bowling Team and the Tuesday Night Men's Bowling League, serving as its secretary for 20 years. He also belonged to the Monticello Bowling Association and had been its secretary for five years. He had also coached and umpired several years for the Babe Ruth Baseball League and was a high school baseball umpire. In the summers, he had worked at Indiana Beach.

For 10 years, he served as treasurer of the White County Chapter of the American Heart Association. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He had also had been a member of the Monticello Moose Lodge. Also surviving are his stepfather, Steve Cain, Round Grove; two daughters, Kathleen A. Speaker, Richmond, and Terri L.

Lonneman, Fort Myers, two sons, Michael Indianapolis, and Sean a sophomore at Purdue University, West Lafayette; one brother, Patrick, Orlando, two half brothers, Jack Cain, Chattanooga, and Steve Cain, Lafayette; two sisters, Susan Stearns, Battle Creek, and Nancy Fender, Orlando, three grandchildren; and two stepgranddaughters. The Rev. James Goodrum will officiate the services. Burial, with graveside services, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will conduct a service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Tri County High School and the American Heart Association. Latta PERU Services for Robert M. Latta, 66, Denver, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Eikenbeny-Eddy Funeral Home. He died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Miller's Merry Manor.

Born June 16,1924, in White County, he was the son of Mearl and Mildred Schott Latta. In 1948, he was married to Virginia Lindley, who died in 1973. His second marriage was to Sarah Riggle, who survives. He was retired from Chrysler Kokomo. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He had also belonged to the Moose and Eagles lodges and Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Peru. Also surviving are two sons, Mearl, Wabash, and Rick, Peru; and three grandchildren. Officiating at the services will be Jerry Saltzman. Burial will be in Ever- Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass County. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m.

today in the funeral home, where the Moose will conduct a service at 8 p.m. APRIL 11,1991 Walter R. Unger FULTON Walter R. Unger, 78, Rt. 1, Lucerne, died at 7:32 a.m.

Saturday in Memorial Hospital, Logansport. He was bom March 5, 1913, in Wabash County to Ed and Elizabeth Hoover Unger. He was married July 10, 1935, in Cass County to Carrie Lemmon, who survives. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are three daughters, Yvonne Parker, Elkhart, Mary Higgenbotham, Peru, and Lois Rans, Rochester; two sisters, Bertha L. Slegel, Umatilla, and Helen Moore, both of Umatilla, two brothers, Eldon Monterey, and Paul, Crystal River, 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters, one brother and one grandson preceded him in death. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home with the Revs.

Edward Owens and Kathryn Kunz officiating. Burial will be in Metea Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton United Methodist Church. APRIL 13,1991 Edwin D. Marshall Services for Edwin D. Marshall, 62, 1312 Spear will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in All Saints Catholic Church.

He died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hospital. Bom Nov. 24, 1928, in Cass County, he was the son of Robert and Viola Kirkpatrick Marshall. On May 5, 1956, he was married to Alice LeDonne, who survives.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and All Saints Catholic Church. In 1990, he retired from Exide Corporation. Also surviving are two sons, Dale, Lucerne, and Joe, 208 Colfax one daughter, Anna Mucker, 317-24th one brother, Robert, 2116 Sterling Lane; one sister, Pauline Bates, Hartford City; and two grandchildren. The Rev. David Newton will officiate the services.

Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m Monday in Marocco Funeral Chapel. There will be a scripture service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
