(Rivera, the band's "utility player" helped out on the really high notes). The concert's only "low-lights" were the result of Ringo's singing Submarine, The No-No Song, etc.) but even he redeemed himself with the fantastic closer With A Little Help From My Friends. With a lot of help from his, Starr's show was a shining success.

crowd favorite and standing ovations followed virtually all of them sort of a Nostalgiapalooza. Cream's Sunshine of Your Love had Bruce wailing on his bass and Frampton following up with stellar solos as they stood face to face in a mock "duel" stance. Brooker sang Whiter Shade of Pale with amazing vigor and Rivera (is there an instrument he can't play?) cranked out its famous or results-getting Palm Beach Post ad mm 41 CaU 820-4300! By BRYON RIVERS Palm Beach Post Arts Writer There's a reason why Ringo Starr sat behind the drums quietly bobbing his head when he was with the Beatles he can't sing dance. But what he can do is host one heck of a party. And that's precisely what he did Saturday night at Sunrise Musical Theatre when Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band performed before a sold out audience.

word "all-star" does not begin to pay tribute to the talented musicians in Starr's supergroup guitarist Peter Frampton, bass guitarist Jack Bruce (of Cream), Procol Harum's Gary Brooker on keys, drummer Simon Kirke (of Free and Bad Company), Mark Rivera (he's played with virtually everyone) on horns and, of course, Starr himself on a second drum kit. Starr came out wearing a black velvet jacket with silver stars (someone call the fashion police). He was charming and lovable, but his clothes outshined everything he did on stage. Opening with his own It Don't Come Easy, it was obvious that his bandmates would have to save the show. They did.

When Frampton took the spotlight to play and sing Show Me The Way, the concert "came alive." His signature spacey vocal effects and guitar playing made Frampton the evening's main attraction. In khaki pants, loafers and a white oxford shirt, he looked like a dad living out a rock 'n' roll fantasy. But with the attitude and stage presence of rockers 20 years younger, his performance was anything but crusty. Watching this band play was like seeing the world's greatest cover band come to life. Each member was given a chance to flex his musical muscles.

Extended so-. los and jam sessions were the rule of the evening. Every song was a gan harmony as if he had written it. Kirke's renditions of Free's Shooting Star and Allright Now were two of the evening's gems and saw the 47-year-old (he looks 35) smashing the hell out of his drum kit while nailing shut the NO. 345362 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING PROPOSED BANK MERGER Notice is hereby given ihot 1st United Bonk, Boca Raton.

Shihadeh opens shop every morning at 5 and closes at 8 p.m. His store serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to farm workers, truckers and day-trippers who get hooked on the Cuban sandwiches, barbecoa tacos, and chorizo. The walls, refrigerators and display hooks yield a wide array of baseball caps, fishing hooks, work gloves, dried hot peppers and beverages. Styrofoam cups filled with worms are stacked under the cash register.

The corner is one of the busiest in the Ag Reserve, and migrant workers stop in by the busload to pick up lunch and cash their paychecks. Richard Bowman, a local farmer who heads a beleaguered county committee charged with preserving the farmland and horse farms in the Ag Reserve, stopped by Friday for a Coke and a Cuban-style pork, cheese and pepper sandwich. Ocean Blvd. jReport outlines St. Lucie airport expansion AvUe rltets By JIM REEDER for this "I still want to know if there's a real need for this proposed expansion," County Commissioner John Bruhn said. "I almost voted to delay the public hearing until that's answered." Backers of airport expansion say it will be an economic boost to the community, providing jobs and easier travel with commercial service. Others see it as an expensive venture that will cost more than it will benefit, increasing noise in one of the county's most historic areas, St.

Lucie Village. County Commissioner Cliff Barnes questions the need for an expanded airport because most traffic is from student pilots who practice touch-and-go landings. Many of them train at schools in Vero Beach. 5 Palm Beach Post Staff Writer FORT PIERCE Commercial jets could be using St. Lucie County International Airport in 15 years, and airport capacity could increase 60 percent.

2 But first, officials will have to deal with the destruction of wetlands, noise and other effects from construction of a new runway, Construction will cost up to $4.7 million and involve destruction of 40 acres of wetlands; it also could affect an eagle's nest, gopher tortoises and scrub jay. 5 That's the finding in a report that will be the 'subject of a public hearing June 17 at 7 p.m. Only At U.S.WMedical Send Us Your Car Club, Motorcycle or RV Club News Buy 1 Get 1 U.
