Goralski's nominating petition was declared valid today in a decision handed by President Judge A. Valentine.

A hearing in the case was held last Thursday before Judge Valentine. The petition to strike off Goralski's name in the Primary Election filed with the court by Joseph Lupko of Nanticoke who charged fraud on securing names on petitions. It was contended that the name Goralski was not contained on petition when circulated for signatures and the complainant asserted that he though he was signthe petition for another man. Judge Valentine's ruling today as follows: "Now August. 9, 1943, due hearing, we find that charges of fraud contained in the objections not been sustained.

Therefore objections are dismissed and the nominating petition adjudged valid." D. JENKINS Phone Operators Are Asked To Aid Defense Bureau The staff of District 4, Luzerne County Civilian Defense, reports that it is still handicapped by a shortage of telephonists. There are not enough responsible volunteers who can be relied upon to be on the job at the appointed time so as to be able to handle the calls at the center. when a blackout occurs. For a time, the staff felt confident that whenever, day or night, an air raid signal might come in, control center workers could be relied upon to handle the job successfully.

However, many become lax and so the staff, in checking up, has found on several occasions that the center was not properly manned. The staff would again like to ask local citizens to give a few hours of their time each week to this very necessary A few volunteers to complete several the crews would be a real help. The staff wishes to express its appreciation of the loyal crews of telephonists who are regular in their attendance and can always be relied upon. The community is indebted to them. Leonard Naylor, local resident, has received word that his brother has been transferred from the Phillipines to Osaka Camp, Japan. Word came from the Provost Marshall General's Sgt.
