FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1999 GALVESTON COUNTY, TEXAS WEEKEND PICKS Art Serious Studios Serious Galveston's Gallery of the Undiscovered Country is exhibiting new- works by artists Steve Cole, Ted Ellis, Larry Williams and Janet Lee. Also on exhibit are outdoor pieces by Mark Fox and bird habitats by artist Peter Guglierao. The gallery has a wide selection of African pieces arriving daily. Theater Kid's Art Centre Theatre Kid's Art Centre Theatre and Broadway Bound will have a fall fund-raiser and silent auction at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at O'Connell High School in Galveston. This year the donations at the door will benefit the Robin Foundation, which gives toys to seriously ill children in hospitals.

COM theater "You Can't Take It With You" has been described as "the great American comedy" and, for the first time in its 30-year history, the Kaufman and Hart classic will be performed at College of the Mainland Community Theatre, 1200 Amburn Road, Texas City, continuing through Nov. 21. The comedy concerns the eccentric, unconventional Sycamore family and the comic complications that result from the engagement of Alice Sycamore to Tony Kirby, son of the conventional, conservative Kirbys. The second annual Ghosts of Galveston Costume Ball is part of the Ghosts of Galveston City-Wide Festival. All proceeds from the ball will benefit Gaiveston's Shriners Burns Institute. The ball will be from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on The Colonel Pad- dlewheeler.
