Bernice E. Miller, 80, died March 18, 1997 at home in Chula Vista, where she was a resident for 29 years. She was born Dec. 17, 1916 in Spokane, Wash. She was a legal secretary (retired) and the former owner of Cut Curl Beauty Salon in Chula Vista from 1972 to 1985.

She operated Arabian Gardens Mobile Home Park in Indio, from 1981 to 1992 and attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chula Vista. She was a member of San Diego County Club-Ladies Handicap Chairperson, she loved to play golf. She is survived by her husband Ralph V. Miller; son, Dr.

Patrick R. McGinnis; stepson, Carl Fabbroni; brother, Roswell Rosauer; sisters, Peggy Bash and Deonna Tamborelli; grandchildren, Megan and Gabrielle McGinnis; and step-child, Corina Fabbroni. Rosary was held Sunday, March 23, at 7 p.m, at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass was Monday, March 24, at noon at the Chapel of Roses, burial followed at Glen Abbey Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Glen Abbey Mortuary.

LOPEZ MILLER Mark Joseph Lopez, born June 30, 1921, in Ures, Mexico in the state of Sonora, and raised in the Los Angeles area, died March 24, 1997. Mr. Lopez was awarded two Purple Hearts and Silver Star. He was the owner of Jossepie's Beauty Salon on Street Chula Vista, and resident for over 30 years. He was a past member of the Downtown Business Association and the Eagles. He is survived by one daughter, two sons, and six grandchildren.

Rosary was held on Tuesday, March 25. Mass was Wednesday, March 26, at 10 a.m., at Saint Poly Carp Church, 8100 Chatman Stanton, Calif. Internment was at Riverside National Cemetery. Under the direction of Diamond and Sons Mortuary, Garden Grove, Calif. Kenneth E.

Rose ROSE Kenneth E. Rose, an expert marksman and retired barber, died March 22. He was 83. Mr. Rose competed in rifle matches throughout California, becoming the California State 30-Caliber Rifle Champion in 1955 and earning the Distinguished Rifleman Medal, an achievement that had been attained by fewer than 160 individuals at the time.

He was a member of the Champion State Rifle Team for seven years and earned numerous other awards for his marksmanship. A longtime member of the Miramar Gun Club, Mr. Rose was also an excellent skeet shooter who took great pleasure in sharing his exceptional knowledge and skills with others, stressing safety above all else. He was a founding member of the Valley Gun Club and had been an active member of the West Coast Rifle Club and the Southern California Rifle Pistol Association. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Born May 18, 1913 in Chillicothe, he moved with his family to California as a young child, settling in San Diego in 1931. He became a barber at the age of 16 and owned shops in Chula Vista, Mission Hills and Lemon Grove. He was well known among his friends and customers for his phenomenal ability to remember and tell jokes. Mr. Rose was married to Dorothy Sims in 1939 and together they resided in Chula Vista, moving to the drier climate of El Cajon in 1950.

They have two daughters, Patricia Harders of La Mesa and Janet Eggert of San Diego, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A service was held Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at the Little Chapel of the Roses, Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita. Visitation was from 4 to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 27, at Glen Abbey. Donations to the American Heart Association are suggested.
