Bed Room Suits; 8 pieces; from $20 up at Frantz's, 732 Cumberland street, tf PUBLIC OPINION. The NEWS will print Mich communication under this head as come properly voiicbt'il for but will in nowise assume responsibility lor any of the opinions expressed. Why Emroii NEWS: It is urged by some that the county commissioners have doni their duty iu oil'eriug a reward the capture of C'haries liarrett, and that the city also should do something. Such persons evidently have not given the matter proper thought. The city pays about one third of the county tax, and Las already about one third iu the reward of $500 (illorod.

Why then should the city be asked to do any more Is not the county just as much interested his capture as the city, when the reward is oll'ored from a common fund which the city boars fully its share? It is possible but not pluusible lhat Garretl is slill in tho city, and therefore the entire county, without singling out any single district, is interested in bringing him to justice. Had this murder been committed in any of the townships, no one would think that that township should help bear more than its proportionate share of tho reward. JUSTICE. Will Leave For Germany. Dr.

David T. Werner, of Avon, who hae taken lull course iu chemistry at the Pennsylvania L'uiversity, Philadelphia, will shortly leave for Germany, where ho will pursue his studies iu chemistry iu one of the uuiversilies of that country. Ho will be accompanied by his wife. They will bo absent about two years. Drank Out of the Same Canteen.

Aiden Benedict's Fabio Romani, a dramatization of Marie Corelli's novel, Ihe "Vendetta." "The Tale of the Dead" as it is related by Aiden Benedict, is a very interesting story. The interest is much strengthened by the dramatic production of the piece. To witness this play the Grand Opera House was crowded last night. The company is a strong uue, aud fullycapable to give a thoroughly representation of the play. The double role ot "Fabio Komani" and "(Junto CJKare Olivia" was assumed by Jlr.

Walter Nina, the weak laithlots woman, was very naturally portrayed by Miss Kugel Sumncr. A special feature was the nkirt dancing by MidS Hunter. Tho play scored an immediate success. The stage bettings were particularly effective, but the most enjoyable feature of the evening was the ravishing living pictures produced with every attention ol artistic York World This company will appear in Fisher nppra house on Monday, September '-4, Oysters received daily at John H. "Scribner'a Magazine" for September has a notable list of contributors, including F. Marion Crawford, Thomas Nelson Page, Carl Lnmholtz, Octavo Tbanet, Mrs. James T. Fields and Harriet Prcs- cott Spofford. Marion Crawford writes of Bar Harbor from the point; of view ot one who has aeen most of the Bummer resorts of the world, and has spent considerable time at Bar Harbor viewing it as an outsider.

With his power of description and big- abundant experience he writes with a vivacity and freshness that is unusual in articles of this kind. Ho has caught the very spirit of the place picturesquely, and suggests its quaint features socially with a very amusing account of the present Bar Harbor from the old fishing village. C. S. Keioharr, who has made many sketching tours in that region, furnishes the illustrations.

This group of articles will be concluded in the October number with an article oti Lenox by George A. Hibbard, author of "The Governor." "A prominent featareof the September "Century" is a continuation of the unpublished correspondence ol Edgar Allan Poe, edited by George K. Woodbury, and aling this month particularly with the 1'hilaae-lphia period of Foe's life. This series contains three portraits of the 10- mancer, and four striking drawings by Sterner, typifying well-known stories and poems. The present instalment contains a portrait irom a daguerreotype owned by Mr.

Thomas J. McKee, which, however it may challenge criticism as a likeness, is nevertheless well authenticated. There is also a portrait of N. P. WilJis, and the writers besides Poe himself are Washington Irving, Charles Dickens, Willis, and others.

Mrs. M. O. W. Oliphant, whose biographical work is not less attractive than her novels, contributes a paper on "Addison, the Humorist." A striking portrait of Addison, and one of the Earl of Godolphin, accompany the paper.

There is also the first of two papers of "Recollections of Aubrey l)r- Vere," the English, or rather tho Irish, poet; the present paper being devoted to his childhood and boyhood, and the siw- ond to his youth. A pjrtrait of Mr. J)e- Vere will appear in the second part. BASE BALL. NATIONAL LEAGDE GAMES.
