NASA reaches out to Chula Vista students A NASA team of scientists will lead fifth grade students from the Chula Vista Elementary School District in such activities as a Starship Atlantis teacher workshop and a space exploration workshop during the week of Feb. 22 through 28. The nationally recognized NASA space science program titled "Journey Through the Universe" will enable students to participate in NASA scientist school visits and a space night for themselves and their families. Students create images of 'forgotten war' Marienette Carpio is one of the seniors at Eastlake High School's ROP multimedia classes who created the Forgotten War Exhibit that has been on display at the EastLake Library since Feb. 19. The title for the exhibit was coined by CBS newscaster Dan Rather in reference to the continuing presence of US. troops in Afghanistaa "Many of the 8,000 soldiers fighting there are not much older than my students," said Eastlake High School's Web Multimedia Instructor Jamie Orphanos whose own brother-in-law is serving in Afghanistan with the VS. Army's 82nd Airborne Divisioa Orphanos' students asked to create digital art presentations to express their feelings about the war and about the people serving there.

They particularly wanted to thank the men and women who are fighting the war on terrorism and to ensure they are not forgotten. The art will be packaged and sent to soldiers in Afghanistan.
