Arkansas Gazette Correspondence, SftBtters, Ark August 12. Biimi-aof recent tjlaeovrales of gold-beailn; roclf lu Pulaski county induce me to say that gold does exist In Arkansas, and probably in paying quantities, notwithstanding the adverse report of our late state geologist In 1810 the United States surveyors, engtiged in sectioning our state, camped near a certain spring in Hot Spring county, and one day accidentally found some float quart, containing a few particle of gold, risible to the eye. That tbey find- tbe-rJoeaHty again, tbey preyarod a plat of tiie eur-rounding country, having as a starting point the above mentioned spring, showing the direction and distance from the spring to the place- of discovery. It tood the test of knife, Marnier, ud this obtained a large specimen of the rock, brought the same to Hot Springs and It was pronounced gold-bearing. Quite a number of smaller floats were afterwards plckedjip, The honey-combed quartz, with considerable yellow ochre attached. A well defined rein -of quarto or quartalte shows foe some distance along the base of the mpuptaln, where the discovery was made. A specimen from the rein submitted to Prof.

A. S. Fuller, of New York, wa prononnced by him to be gold bearing.
