0 On the record Wednesday, June 29, 1994 Star-News Obituaries Police briefs Pot seized from crashed car SAN YSIDRO Police recovered over 200 pounds of marijuana from a vehicle that crashed into a fire hydrant. At 6:33 a.m. June 25 police received a report of a red Hyundai that had run the border crossing. Officers later got a report of a collision involving a Hyundai that crashed into a fire hydrant in the 600 block of East San Ysidro Boulevard, said Bill Robinson, spokesman for the San Diego Police Department. As officers approached the vehicle, a white van accelerated in an attempt to escape and struck a Border Patrol vehicle.

The driver of the van was captured after a brief pursuit, Robinson said. When officers got to the Hyundai the female driver had run from the scene and was not captured. Officers found the Hyundai was full of kilo packages of marijuana. U.S. Customs responded to the scene and recovered 260 pounds of marijuana.

Tim Darton said the burglar ran into his car and backed into the victim trying to make a getaway. Cox received minor injuries to her arm and leg.

The burglar also made off with Cox's compact discs valued at $40. Serviceman robbed SOUTH SAN DIEGO A paytelephone serviceman was robbed of $600 in coins and his vehicle by three men. The victim was removing money from a pay phone at 2:30 p.m. June 24 at 3309 Palm Ave. when a vehicle with three males pulled up, said Bill Robinson, spokesman for the San Diego Police Department.

The suspects asked to see the victim's identification as an employee then pulled a gun on him. Bonita Blotter The following incidents were reported to the Sheriff's station in Imperial Beach Carjacking suspect carjacked a victim by threatening with a handgun in the 00 block of San Miguel Road and took $600 from the victim. The Rev. Wilbur T. Dodson Wilbur T. Dodson passed away June 22 in an area hospital following a long illness.

He was a retired minister who had served as associate minister of the Chula Vista Church of the Nazarene. As pastor, he served eight churches. He is survived by his wife, Blance; daughters, Linda Kelly of Tempe, Dawana Abicht of Harris- Kimberly Meilahn of San Bernadino; step daughter, Colleen Hawkins of Phoenix, brothers, Milton of San Jose, Paul of Clear Lake Highlands and Fred of Prewitt, N.M.; sister, Wilma Hammock of Yucaipa; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held by the Rev. David Grinder at the Chula Vista Church of the Nazarene and burial was at Glen Abbey Cemetery.

Martha R. Steinke Martha R. Steinkepassed awayJune 27 in San Diego. She was 77. Born Nov.

20, 1916 in Chicago, she was a San Diego resident for 15 years. She work as head cook for the Plainfield School in Plainfield, Wis. She is survived by her husband, Paul R. Steinke; son, Robert Steinke; brothers, William and Richard Weber; sisters, Gean Johnson, Clara Weidemiller and Laverne Ross and four grandchildren. A prayer service will be held 6:30 p.m.

She was 62. was a Chula Vista resident for 27 years and had been previously employed by the federal Civil Service for 29 years, most recently at Balboa Naval Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Michael; sons, Rick and Jim and grandchildren, David and Diane.
