-William Erwin, an old man, aged 69, was shot had perhaps fatally wounded by William Morgan, a young man of 21, at Ingersoli, thirteen miles west of here, on the Texas and Pacific Railway, this afternoon. For the past six months Morgan and his brother, Bud Morgan, have boarded with Erwin. Today the three had a dispute over a bill duo for board. Prior to ths shooting Erwin had whipped Bud Morgan, but an hour later the latter renewed the fight, and, it is claimed, Erwin drew a knife andwastryiag to -eufr- him when Will Morgan Interfered and shot Erwin with a 33-calibre revolver. The bullet entered the left breast and passed entirely through the body.

William Morgan was brought here tonight and placed in jail. Slain Wliile He Slept Pontotock, April 27. Ponto County is greatly excited over the murder of an inoflenslve negro named Stuart, who was killed by white men disguised as negroes while he slept in his bed. A small negro boy was asleep in the room and escaped in the darkness, and his testimony, together with I other circumstantial evidence, led to the arrest of W. W.

Wood and Arthur Johnson, two farmers residing in the neighborhood. A burglar was discovered In Patton'a store about 9 o'clock tonight by Mr. Jack Barnwell, the clerk. He gave the alarm and a crowd surrounded the store and ordered the burglar to surrender. He made a break for liberty when several shots were fired at him by J. H.
