Moonies Allowed To Solicit In Me Kee sport MC KEESPORT, Pa. (API A U.S. District Court Judge has ruled that members of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church can solicit donations without licenses in this Allegheny County city. Judge Daniel Snyder entered an induction against city officials Friday, ordering them not to enforce an ordinance requiring licensing of door-to-door solicitors.

The city had been using the 30-year-old ordinance to prevent the church members from soliciting funds. Seven so called "Moonies" had been arrested under the law in 1976. Snyder said the ordinance applied to commercial solicitation and could not be expanded to church affairs. The suit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of the church, claimed the ordinance violated the Moonies' freedom of religion.
