By October 1989, Sears and a dozen specialty shops will join the retailers already at Treasure Coast Square in Jensen Beach, including its three original anchor stores Jordan Marsh, Lord Taylor and JCPenney.

The opening of the mall at the corner of U.S. 1 and Jensen Beach Boulevard brought Martin County, in some ways, into the modern age the escalators in Jordan Marsh and Lord Taylor were the county's first. Sales are up countywide But the mall has meant more material benefits as well. Countywide retail sales have skyrocketed since the opening, said officials of the Stuart-Martin County Chamber of Commerce. The mall its corridors brightened by many skylights and decorated with planters and benches brought dozens of new specialty shops to the area, including Caren Charles, Scribbles, the Mole Hole and Victoria's Secret.
