He served in the Army Air Corps during World War H. Among survivors are his wife, Charlene; a son, Loren Jr. of Urban-dale; a daughter, Lana Kay Gorman of Grimes; and four grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Foundation. Marcella A. Kucera, 69, of 3840 38t St. died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m.

Mr. Baughman was born in Cres-ton and lived in Adel 25 years, coming from Farnhamville; Aurora, and Ames. He had been an industrial technology instructor at ADM High School for more than 25 years and was a member of First Christian Church, Adel Masonic Lodge, Adel Library Board, the Technical Student and Industrial Technology associations and the ADM, Iowa State and National education associations. Surviving are his wife, Bonita; a son, Matt at home; a daughter, Melody Baughman of Chicago; and his parents, Ken and Ethel Baughman, and two sisters, Carol John and Marcia Hundley, all of Creston.

He was a self-employed telephone contractor, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Im-manuel United Methodist Church, Moingona Masonic Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his wife, Norma; two daughters, Karen Gavin of Novi, and Sharon Rutz of West Des Moines; three sisters, Gladys Schmidt of Garner, Marjorie Lobnitz of Bloomington, 111., and Marilyn Miner of Cambria; and three grandchildren. Rosaura M. "Rose" Callahan, 74, of 4019 E. Seneca Ave. died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, where she had undergone heart surgery. Services will be at 1 1 a.m.

Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Callahan was born in Newton and lived in Des Moines most of her life.

She was owner of Callahan Day Care and had been a member of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Surviving are a son, Tom of Dana Point, two daughters, Lynette Van Note and Mary O'Brien, both of Des Moines; three brothers, Ruben Gonzalez of Milan, 111., Pete Gonzalez of Colorado Springs, and Ese Gonzalez of Des Moines; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild. Robert F. Lewis, 76, of Mitchell-ville died of cancer Sunday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services were held Tuesday. A previous obituary listed the incorrect place of death and should have also listed one of the requested memorial contributions as Hospice of Central Iowa instead of Hospice Kavanagh House. rC 1 MM Medical Center.

The body was cremated and a memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, of which she was a member. Mrs. Baudler-Anderson was born in Schonballen, East Prussia, and lived in Ankeny 10 years. She was a certified nursery worker and retired from Heard Gardens.

She had been a member of the Des Moines Herb Study Group, State of Iowa Arboretum, Iowa State Horticulture Society and the board of directors of the Des Moines Botanical Center. Surviving are her husband, Duane Anderson; three sons, Marc Baudler of Overland Park, Robert Baudler of Des Moines and Scott Rei-ter of Ankeny; three daughters, Kitty Brenner of Freeport, 111., Susan Langford of Ankeny and Debi Reiter of Haverhill, a brother, Luther Schmidt of Dusseldorf, Germany; six grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Patterson was born in He-drick and lived in Des Moines 64 years. He retired last year as a veterinarian with Grand Avenue Veterinary Hospital, was a veteran of the Army and had been a member of the Veterinary Orthopedic Society and the Greater Des Moines, Iowa and American veterinary associations. He also was a former board member of the Animal Emergency Clinic. Surviving are his wife, Joanne; two daughters, Anne Tait of Lititz, and Lisa Abelson of Mazomanie, a stepdaughter, Tiffany Rick-ers, a son, Christopher, and a sister, Mary WiUcox, all of Des Moines; two stepsons, Trew Rickers of Atlanta and Tyler Rickers of Des Moines; and six grandchildren. S. John Ebert, who founded the University of Iowa's Iowa Mountaineers in 1940, died of prostate cancer Tuesday at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City. He was 88. Mr. Ebert scaled more than 1,000 peaks in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Mount Ebert in Idaho's Sawtooth range is named for him. "My dad loved mountains," said Mr. Ebert's son, Jim. "He had this wonderful, exciting desire to travel. He also loved to take people with him, and he loved to show people the mountains.

He was a dreamer and adventurer." Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the George L. Gay Funeral Home in Iowa City.

The Iowa Mountaineers, which has more than 5,000 members, is the largest university mountaineering club in the United States. More than 74,000 people have climbed 1,350 mountains in 16 countries on club-sponsored trips. The club's Travel Adventure Film Series has attracted more than 680,000 viewers since Mr. Ebert launched it in 1940. Mr.

Ebert also was a well-known travel lecturer. He presented travelogues in the United States and Canada for three decades. He was the chief engineer for Uof I radio station WSUI-AM from 1930 to 1975. Mr. Ebert was a member of the American Alpine Club, the Austrian Alpine Club and the Chicago Mountaineers.

As a young man, he played semi-professional baseball and hockey. Mr. Ebert also was a lifelong tennis player and figure skater. Survivors include his wife, Ede; three sons, John of Little Falls, Jim of Madison, and Joel of Salt Lake City, Ujah; a sister, Vivian Schmidt of Lynchburg, and eight grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Iowa Mountaineers.

Lela M. Jantz, 91, of Sunnyview Care Center, 410 N.W. Ash Drive, Ankeny, died of a heart ailment there Monday. Entombment will be in Merle Hay Mausoleum, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. today.

Mrs. Jantz was born in Swan and lived in Polk County most of her life. She retired as a licensed practical nurse and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, National Nurses Association, Foster Grandparents and Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Surviving are a daughter, Madonna Wall of Ankeny; three sons, Jim Clemens of Van Wert, Gordon Clemens of Des Moines and Don Clemens of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Merle Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Former Resident Here is information about the death of a former central Iowa resident who moved from the area more than 20 years ago: Charlene J. Jay, 59, of Dubuque, who was born in Zearing and lived in Colo through high school, died of cancer Tuesday at home.
