President Maid- ing, which is due Friday afternoon from Bremen Ports. Elks Ladies' Night Proved Brilliant Social Affair (Continued from Page one) Elks guests of the evening, they were dazzled by the splendor of the rangements throughout. i Immediately following a hurried session of the lodge, at which $35 i was donated to the Boy Scouts' Campaign, in addition to'liberal individual contributions by considerable part of the membership, the festivities opened at the Colonial Theatre, at 8.15, with a vaudeville performance. This feature was made possible through the co-operation of Carr and Schad, lesses, through their capable local manager, James Clay. Mr.

Schad was personally present, to assist in the general arrangements, which involved the closing of the theatre In the afternoon to permit 1 of the orchestra rehearsing with the special acts brought for the entertainment. The hosts of the evening were profuse in their expressions of appreciation of the accommodations and generous help accorded by the theatre, people. The shoy was "A to use stageland colloquialism, although space forbids a description of the acts with any great elaboration of detail. One of the surprise features, was put over early in the evening, when a bevy of pretty girls, all dolled out in white dresses, with Elk-purple trimming, passed through the audience and presented each lady with a souvenir, consisting of a beautiful metal box containing powder, mirror and nose trinket highly prized by most women of all ag.es. The metal boxes were beautiful in design, most of them being studded with stones, and there were a score or more of varieties.

There was a murmur of appreciation throughout the house as the trinkets were distributed. Assemblyman Ralph H. Behney, a past exalted ruler of the Lebano'n I'odge, made announcement of the gifts in behalf of the generous host of the evening, and at the same time he extended a cordial welcoirie to all of the guests of the evening, especially the ladies of the Widows' Home, who occupied reserved seats in the front part of the house, and the other special guests who were admitted tickets furnished widows of departed members. The gifted speaker performed his duty artistically and eloquently. The vaudeville bill was presented with a fine discrimination to please everybody.

The opening number was furnished by "The Honey-Bos Pen Orchestra, of Reading, wblcl. later also the music for dancing at the EUis Home. Their concert was an encouraging attraction to the dancing element. "Marty and Nancy" pleased all. with a clever dance skit; the Four strong man, girl and two boys fairly took the breath of the audience in hand-balancing and other gymnastic stunts; Master Ranltin, a xylophone wizard had difficulty in getting off the stage after he bad stivted a wonderful dem QnatraMoa Chew a few! Judging from reports from druggists who nrp constantly in direct touch with the public, there is one preparation that, has been very successful in overcoming those conditions.

The. mild and hsaling Influence of Dr. Kilmer's Swnmp-Root is soon realized. Tt stands the highest for Its remarkable record of success. An examining physician f.ir one-of the prominent Llfo Insurance Companies, In an inti-rview of the subject, made the astonishing statement that, ono reason why so many applicants for insurance are rejected Is because kidney trouble is so common to the American poople, knd Uie large majority of those whose applications ar.e declined do not even suspect that they have disease.

Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Root is on sale at, all drug atoms in bottles of two sizes, medium and large. However, if you wish first to test this gr.eat preparation send ten cents to Dr. Kilmer Binghamton, N. for a sample bottle.

The local entertainers shared with the imported I talent the surprise of the audience. Promptly at 11 o'clock, the house was darkened as per Elk custom, and tho 11 o'clock toast "To Our Absent Brothers" was glvon by Representative Behney, while the Elks stood. Following the performance the dancing element repaired to Elks' home a few doors away, while those not thus inclined proceeded to tho 'Hotel Weimer where a buffet luncheon was served. It proved to be a fitting finale.

At the Elks' Home the same buffet luncheon was seryed the grill at 12.16 during an Intermission in the dance program. The dance was held" in the lodge room on the second, floor.

There were many guests here who did not dance, but of these spectators retired after the luncheon. The grill was ed with festoons of artificial flowers which made a decidedly pretty 'appearance, and the pool and billiard for the and decorated with'-ferns, palms and potted plants'on pedestals, were used as tables by the guests. Long tables on the other side of the were laden with plates readily available, and from'which supply the guests seryed the food to their ladies. Here too social hour was provided which gave additional zest to the evening. The lodge roo.m was also the spene of.

artistic efforts on. the part of the floritit r.nd decorator, and the place was given many of esthetic attractions of parlor, and -the dance partook much of the nature a family affair. It was a late hour when the party finally dispersed with a rollicKing "Good Night, Ladies," and the last of the pnrty-repaired homeward with recollections of the greatest event In the history of the locnl organisation, and that is saying something. The theatre performance was clever and quite entertalriir and was clean enough to have been staged l.n the social rooms of a church building. The high class character of the vaudeville production was carried right through the evening's festivities to the very last strains of "Home Sweet Home" played by the orchestra, and the affair w'ill go down In the annals, of lodge as a wonderful success.

The Merchants' and Manufacturers' committee which Included representatives of the above classification of excellent taste and judgment, has the felicitation of all lodge members as well as of the guests of the evening.
