Sinclair, whose outspoken voice unified 1,300 striking Bndgestonenresto-ne workers, died of lung cancer Friday at his home at 7211 S.W. 11th St. He was 58. Funeral services will be at 1 a.m.

Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Sinclair was president of United Rubber Workers Local 310 during much of the bitter strike that started in July 1994 and lasted nearly two years. He was fired by the company in 1994, but federal authorities later ordered the company to reinstate Sinclair.

He returned to work last February, but a cancer diagnosis forced him to leave only a week later. "He really hated to leave," said his son, Joe Sinclair. "The membership was just like his family. You go through something like that strike and you become solidified. He was awfully proud to be back with them." The decision to strike was something Mr.

Sinclair never had second thoughts about, his son said. He was committed to the needs of all the union members, he added. "This is not something we enjoy," Mr. Sinclair said in an interview dur Dale Edward Davis, 76, of Uni versity Nursing and Rehabilitation Cen ter, 233 University died of a heart ailment there Fri day. The body will be cremated and memorial services will be at 1.15 p.m.

Monday at Bere an Assembly of God Church, with burial of the cremains at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Davis was born in Creston and had lived in Des Moines five years. He worked in equipment service for Iowa Public Service and was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are four sons, Eric and Craig, both of Sioux City, Brian of Sergeant Bluff and Joel of Sacra mento, two daughters, Susan Church of Sioux City and Carol Davis of Portland, three broth ers, Russell and Larry, both of Des Moines, and Elbert of Springfield, three sisters, Betty Foxworthy of Des Moines, CeLesta Miller of Al- toona and Esther Rapp of Ham mond, and 11 grandchildren, Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton Funeral Home.

ADRIAN WHEELER Des Moines Adrian Royce Wheeler, 82, of 6475 N.W. Sixth Drive died of a stroke Fri day at Mill-Pond Retirement Com munity in Ankeny. 4 Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens, with burial at Union Cem etery near Polk City. Mr.

Wheeler was bom in Mount Vernon, S.D., and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a re tired plumber with John Deere, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Highland Park American Legion and United Auto Workers. Surviving are his wife, A. Lucille; a son, Roger Sr. of West Des Moines; a daughter, Carol Haines of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the fami ly will be present from 2 to 6 p.m. HORACE L0CKHART Co(fux Horace P. Lock- hart, 89, of Colfax died of a heart ailment Thursday at Iowa Lutheran Hos pital. Private grave side services will be held at Colfax Cemetery.

Mr. Lockhart was born in St. Charles and had lived in Colfax many years. He was a retired district manager with Northwestern Bell and a member of Colfax Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Diane Gannon of Colfax and Margo Edwards of Mitchellville; a sister, Phyllis Wil- bum of West Palm Beach, five grandchildren; and five-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Colfax Senior Citizens. Arrangements are being handled by Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. (If) Pi hi: i i.a Kenneth James Bennett, 19, of 927 S.W. Pleasantview Drive died of a gunshot wound Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The death is under investigation.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born in Des Moines and had lived in the area all his life. He was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church.

Survivors, all of Des Moines, include his mother, Deborah Bennett; his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Tina Bennett; a sister, Stephanie Bennett; two brothers, Brody and Mason; and his grandparents, Patty Anderson and James Plummer. The family will receive friends from 3 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the fu-neral home.

MARYL0U ALBERTS0N Carroll MaryLou Albertson, 51, of Carroll died of a heart attack Saturday at St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Private family services will be held and burial will be in Carroll City Cemetery. Mrs. Albertson was born in Montgomery County and had lived in Carroll since 1964.

She was a retired teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Among survivors are her husband, James; a son, Michael of Urbandale; a daughter, Lynda Tolen of Kansas City, her mother, Esther Hed-strom, a brother, Harold Hedstrom, and a sister, Janice Enarson, all of Villisca; and four grandchildren. CLARENCE DAVIDSON Carlisle Clarence "Dave" Davidson, 76, of Carlisle died of cancer Wednesday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glendale Cemetery here. Mr. Davidson was born in Superior, and had lived in Des Moines before moving to Carlisle 11 years ago. He was the retired owner of Dave's Service Station, an Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and AmVets.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Linda Day of Des Moines and Debbie Spurlin of Lenexa, a brother, Jerome of California, and two grandchildren. He was a retired truck driver with United Van Lines and a member of the Teamsters. "He's the only president, or one of the very few people, I ever knew who could walk through a plant of 1,300 people and damn near know everyone's name," Doornenbal said. In the end, the agreement did not live up to Mr. Sinclair's standards, but "he was happy to see people back at work and the union still together," his son said. "He's met a lot of good people. He cared about a lot of people and a lot of people cared about him," Joe Sinclair said.

Mr. Sinclair was born in Melrose and lived in Des Moines most of his life. He had also been the president of UAW Local 1446 at Massey-Ferguson, and was a Marine Corps veteran. Survivors include two sons, Joe of Chariton and Vince of Des Moines; a daughter, Fran Timmons of Des Moines; 10 sisters, Mary Shehan, Eileen Miller, Gertrude demons, Shirley Carr and Wanda Olson, all of Des Moines, Delores Yecke of St. Paul, Jackie Curry, Charlene Grandstaff and Melody Freeman, all of Carlisle, and Thelma Engler of Onley, 11 brothers, Bob, Ben, Art, Archie, Morris and Tom, all of Des Moines, Chuck of Norwalk, Jim of Carlisle, Gary of Garwin, Mike of Indianola and Rodney of Bondurant; and five grandchildren.

Diana Rezac of Des Moines was his longtime companion.
