Albritton and 'their son, Claude former Residents of this city: "Stating that scholarship and Jiot leadership was the primary qualification of a Rhodes scholar, the faculty committee on the Rhodes scholarship of Southern Methodist university Saturday selected three applicants from S. M. U. for the award.

The students are Glenn MoDaniel, Seymour; Houston Wasson and Claude Albritton both of Dallas. "Athletic ability among university students has not been emphasized by the scholarship officials for the last 10 years, said Dr. C. F. Zeek, chairman of the S.

M. U. committee. Scholarship is the basic qualification at present, he said. "The three S.

M. U. applicants be considered by the state committee, on the Rhodes scholarship, which will meet in Austin probably the first week in December." Menu for Diner. Corn Stuffnd Green Peppers Buttered Beans Bread Butter Cabbage Salad With Pineapple Chocolate Fudge Sake Coffee Stuffed Green Peppers 6 lareg green peppers, 1 cup corn (cut from cob), 1 cup soft bread crumbs, 1 tablespoon chopped onion, 1 tablespoon chopped green peper, 3 tablesoons butter molted, 1-2 teaspoon salt, 1-4 tpa- spoon pepper, 1-4 teaspoon celery salt. Wash peppers. Cut off and discard tos. Remove seeds and fibrous portions on inside.

Mis rest of ingredients. Stuff peppers. Fit side by side in small baking pan. Add 1-2 inch of water. Bake 30 minutes.

Cabbage Salad 3 cups shredded cabbage, 1 cup diced pineapple, 1 cup diced mallows, 1-3 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon celery seed, 1-2 cup salad dressing. Chill all ingredients. Combine and serve. Fudge Cake. 1-2 cup butter 1 1-2 cups sugar, 1 cup sour milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1-4 teaspoon salt, 2 squares chocolate molted, 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 egg.

Cream the nutter and sugar. Add rest of ingredients and beat 3 minutes. Puur into 2 layer caka pans fitted with waxed papers. Bake 25 minutes in moderately slow oven. Chnciiliito Fudge .2 cups sugar, 1-8 teaspoon cream of tartar, 1 watei 1 2 table? spoons butter, 2 squares chocolate, 1-2 teaspoons vanilla, 1-2 cup nuts.

First of Informal Affairs for Members Of Country Club The officers at the Corsicana Country club have designated each Saturday night as members' night in order to bring the members together in a social way and to enjoy the benefits of the delightful club house more in the future than heretofore. The first of these social events was held Saturday evening, at which 'time an informal bridge tournament was started, there being five tables of players.

Mrs. T. J. Hickey and C. Taylor were the high scorers, and fun provoking favors were presented them for their success.

Johnson and the members of the bridal party which includes Miss Mary Clifton, Mrs. Joe Gould, Mrs. Jack Davis, Miss Harriett Cox of San Antonio, Mrs. Albert Lacy Clifton, Miss Jessie Van Richey, Miss Edith Seley, Miss Ella Katherine Mills of San Antonio, Miss Lyle Seley, and little Marilyn McGee of Corsicana. Paul's church. Miss Seley has been the center of a final whirl of entertainments, two of which were held Friday, two on Saturday, and two each planned for Monday and Tuesday in Waco. City Book jitore. Run want ads brine results. Birthday Dinner For Aged Kirven Resident Recently; FAIRFIELD, Oct. A birthday dinner was given Sunday in honor of the 83rd birthday of "Grandpa" Shumate of Kirven. The dinner was given by his children and 30 guests present.

This been an annual affair for years for one of Klrven's settlers. Mr. Shumate started first store on the present site or the business district of Kirven, hauling his goods from Mexia via mule and oxcart route. Mrs. W.
