Stay healthy for opening, cast told The actors all have different abilities and experience.

For West Des Moines senior Sean Lee, who plays Curly, this is his first crack at musical theater. Lee relishes the opportunity to play lead role, and has thought hard about how to give a convincing performance. When he interacts with rival character Jud, played by Waukee sophomore Cody Lauterbach, Lee conjures up the necessary anger by picturing Lauterbach kissing his girlfriend. Lauterbach employs the same trick to get mad at Lee. That they can't summon the anger naturally is evidence of the friendly atmosphere on the set.

"We usually have 100 more kids," Shaklee said, who then radioed to firefighters in the station to open doors for little ones to redeem specially marked eggs for prizes like jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, Play-Doh and bubbles. The fire department held different hunts for different age groups.

Toddlers were set loose on the park's tennis courts, some with buckets and baskets and some stopping to unwrap and eat their finds. Kristine Housley of Des Moines travels each year from the east side to attend Clive's Easter egg hunt. "This is our third year coming here. That's not easy for her, a mother of eight who invited three neighbor kids to hop into the 12-seater van and make the trek to Clive. Older kids were grouped by age and hunted in phases when their age was called. With each phase, firefighters tossed a new supply of candy in the open grassy area. Empty baskets in hand, 8-year-old Trey and 6-yearold Parker Wooters of Clive waited for their age groups to be called. "I just want the chocolate," Parker said.

His brother, Trey, chimed in, "I want the eggs that get prizes." Last year Trey's coveted prize was a water gun, and he was hopeful that this year would yield the same excitement. Their mother, Anne Wooters, said the crowd has certainly been bigger in years past. Sweet Sixteen Mallory Alisabeth Happy Birthday! You are such a brilliant young woman and talented photographer. She's never missed the event. "It was such an exciting time for me," Krystina Bender recalled. "Now I bring my son." Her son, Trent, 2, was seemingly overwhelmed by the bustle of people, the baskets of candy and the prizes. "I got candy. I see the Easter Bunny," Trent blurted with chocolate in his mouth.

Pointing to the furry visitor in the fire station, his blond curly hair bounced as he jumped up and down. For little Trent the excitement his mother once experienced has transferred beautifully.
