"One of the tank cars carries a highly flammable material, but it was empty at the time and there was no spillage," Lt. Randy Cross of the Polk County Sheriff's Department said. The derailment occurred' in the 1700 block of Sixty-sixth Avenue about 2:30 p.m.

Tuesday, authorities said. One railroad crossing on Northeast Sixty-sixth Avenue was blocked and was expected to remain blocked most of the night. However, Cross said it was hoped that the crossing would be cleared by this morning. Four of the derailed cars landed on their sides one of them a hopper car that spilled soybeans, authorities said. The cause of the derailment of the southbound freight was under investigation late Tuesday.
