Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Resthaven Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Alice was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and of Highland Park University of Commerce. She was employed by Equitable of Iowa for 39 years.

Alice was a past Worthy High Priestess of Mt. Olivet White Shrine. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. McLaren's Chapel Dignity, at Resthaven Cemetery Waukee Artelle H. Payne, 86, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Timberland Health Center in Urbandale.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services are planned. Artelle was born January 31, 1920, in Waukee, Iowa, to Laurie and Ida Hinkson. Artelle spent much of her adult life in Nevada and California, but returned to Iowa in 1996 to be near her family. Artelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Beane; her brother, Walter Hinkson; and a sister, Erma McKinney. She is survived by her son, Kurt Beane, of Des Moines; a sister, Madeline Duprez, of Urbandale; and many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Alec was born December 19, 2003, in Omaha, and was baptized March 28, 2004. Also, aunts, uncles and cousins, Todd, Angela Kaylee Ringgenberg of Des Moines, IA; Shelly (Ringgenberg) Peterson of White Bear, MN; Dave, Kris (Freese) Andrea Howe of Beatrice, NE; Troy Freese of Blythe, CA; and Beth Freese of Culver City, CA; and numerous great-aunts, uncles, and cousins. KATHY ANN IRWIN West Des Moines Kathy Ann Irwin, 60, died of cancer on April 3, 2006 at home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Des Moines, with Pastor Melz officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Kathy was born on August 18, 1945 in Ames, Iowa, to Thomas and Clarice McKiernan.

She married John J. Irwin on May 29, 1976 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a business office education teacher at Des Moines Area Community College, and most recently served as an Information Processor at Holmes Murphy Associates. Kathy was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and Office Systems Professionals Organization. She enjoyed spending time with family, swimming, reading, traveling and tending to her flower gardens.

Kathy graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education, and held an Iowa Teaching Certificate. Kathy is survived by her husband, John Irwin of West Des Moines, and her son, Michael Irwin and his wife Sarah of Des Moines. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Clarice Enich and stepfather, Michael Enich of Grinnell, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, after 4 p.m., with the family present at McLaren's Funeral Chapel, West Des Moines. A memorial fund has been established with the American Cancer Society or Mercy Hospice at Johnston.

McLaren's Chapel Dignity at Resthaven Cemetery JAMES EUGENE DIXON Des Moines James Eugene Dixon, 74, entered into eternal life on Monday morning, April 3, 2006 at Mercy Capitol Hospital in Des Moines, IA. He was a diabetic since the age of 18, and lived a long, prosperous life until complications due to diabetes ended his life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, with a 7:30 p.m. vigil at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Clive. Jim was born in Des Moines on June 19, 1931. He was the third son of George, Sr. and Edna (Boleyn) Dixon.

Jim graduated from Lincoln High School and then from Drake University, with honors, on August 21, 1959, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma fraternity. Jim was a C.P.A. in Des Moines, specializing in taxation. He had two published articles in "The Practical Accountant" in 1972 and "Taxes, The Tax Magazine" in September of 1972.

Jim was also listed as one of the best tax practitioners in Money Magazine in 1987. Jim retired from his career at Denman and Company as the Senior Tax Partner in 1997. Jim is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon; his sons, Joe (Angie) of Mount Pleasant, IA and Dirk (Jodi) of West Des Moines, IA; brothers, Don (Phyllis) of Auburn, WA and Bruce (Merrily) of Fort Dodge, IA; and his granddaughters, Cassidy and Calista Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Dixon; his three sisters, Georgia, Charolette and Phyllis; and his brother, George, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

He was raised in Indianola, Iowa, where he received his education and graduated in 1977. He worked at Dell Oil Co. before starting to work for Sternquist Construction. Harold Jr. was married to Brenda Bloodgood and later divorced.

They had one daughter, Christina Lea. In 1984, he moved to Carrollton, Texas where he was employed building interstates and freeways. In August, 1985, Harold had a motorcycle accident a and remained in a Dallas, TX Hospital in a coma until he was flown back to Des Moines. He lived at the Madrid Home before moving with his parents to Las Vegas where he remained until his death. Harold Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Christina (Tony) Bechtel; parents, Harold and Ruby Johnson; sisters, Sandra (Michael) Leslie and Susan (Michael) Bohall; nieces and nephews, Cody Leslie, Jeremy Conner and Mark Stout, Amanda (Nathan) Newenkirk and their children, Cheyenne and Joey; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl in 1976. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
