The fourth-grade students got a chance to see the actual vault, and to see where safe deposit boxes are kept. Students were also shown the machine that counts all the money Banker's Trust receives. While the Jensen fourth grade students were at the bank, they were given an opportunity to vote for a name for the new Banker's Trust mascot. Karen Acres The second and third grade classes at Karen Acres were visited by an Iowa author. Lisa Cavanah came and spoke to the students about being a writer.

The main question for Lisa was how did she even get started on a book? She explained that she starts her stories by keeping track of ideas as they pop into her head. She adds on to those ideas and eventually forms a story. The students did a hands on activity that showed how to expand a story from words that were given to them. The students learned that she writes her books but that she has an illustrator create the pictures. The illustrator of her books is Laura Lynch who is also from Iowa.
