omen 6 I lews Display Tea Honors Miss Juanette Barker Miss Juanette Barker, bride- elect of William Henry (Scotty) Oliver, was honored with a display tea Saturday afternoon, September 24, in the new country home Mrs. H. B. Clark Sr. The guests were greeted at the d6or by Mrs.

Clark, who presented them to the honoree, mother, Mrs. T. M. Barker, and Mrs. C.

M. Oliver, mother of the bridegroom-elect. Mrs. Don Woodruff and Miss Linda Hendricks alternated with registering the guests, who were directed to the two bedrooms where the gifts were displayed. The tea table was covered with a white linen cutwork cloth, centered with an arrangement of bronze chrysanthemums in a silver container.

Silver and crystal appointments completed the setting. White cake squares, frosted punch and nuts were served by Mrs. Bill Sloan and Miss Margie Lane- Approximately 100 registered during the appointed hours of 4 to 6 p.m. Assisting Mrs. Clark as hostesses were Mmes.

K. Dismuke and Noel W. Jones. The Rufus Cobern's Announce Daughters Birth Mr. and Mrs.

Rufus 'Cobern of Comstock have announced the birth of a daughter, Vickilee, seven pounds and twelve ounces born September 29, in the San Saba Memorial Hospital. Cobern is athletic coach at Comstock and Mrs. Cobern is ths former Lee Ellen West of San 'Saba. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.

L. P. Cobern and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Temple West, all of San Saba.

Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Walton, Mrs.

Essie Hubbert and Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Cobern, all of San Saba.

Delta Kappa Gamma Has Luncheon Meeting The Alpha Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma met in the Observation Building at Buchanan Dam on Saturday, September 25, for a luncheon and business meeting. The Llano members were hostesses. Following the delicious luncheon, Mrs. tH. T.

Harrison of Llano, spoke to the group on "Education In Thirty seven members and three guests were present. Members attending from San Saba and Richland Springs were Mmes. Sue Bettie Davenport; Ruth Kay McKee, Anita Owen, Louise Rich, Geneva Shaw, Hattie Taylor, Helen Terry, Virginia Powell and Irene Pierce. Party Honors Church Classes In Wood Home Hollie Brown and her Junior Sunday School class of the First Christian Church of Richland Springs entertained two other Sunday school classes with a party Monday night at the home of Mrs. M.

B. Wood. Several games were played out- sSde on the lawn before going indoors foi- more games. Mrs. Brown served the group chocolate cake and punch and told them many intersting things that happened, to her as a child.

She also revieAved her childhood party gamos which brought much merriment' to the group. Those attending were Paula Sue Adams, Rickie Baskln, Mary Kat Adams, Patsy Tripp, Dean Adams, Georgana Adams, Kenneth Ellis, and Donna Adams. Social Honors Fidelis Sunday School Class The members of the Fidelis Sunday School Class of the First Methodist Church were honored with a social Tuesday night, Sept. 27, in the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Raymond Patton. According to the records of the Hospital two babies were born during the period of September 126 to October 3, at the San Saba Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Cobern are the parents of a daughter, Vick- ilee, seven pounds and tw'elve ounces born September 29.

and Mrs. John Johanson of Cherokee observed their 60th wedding anniversary at their home on Monday, September 1.9, with friends and relatives wishing them many more years of married life. Johanson was born in Kolding, Denmark, on March 17, 1878 and when a small child he came with his parents to the United States by sail boat, landing on Galveston Island. They later settled at Echert, Texas. Mrs.

Johanson, the former Laura Moore, was born on November 25, 1881, at Pen Oak, Texas in IFayette county. Mr. and Mrs. Johanson were married at Hye, Texas on September 19, 1900, moving to in Llano county where they raised a family of six sons and two daughters. For about twenty years, Johanson, taught at the schools of Bluffton, Willow City, Pontotoc, iji'ye, Eckert and Segonia.

In 1930 they moved to near Cherokee where he farmed and ranched and during World War II he retired and moved into Cherokee. Both Mr. and Mrs. Johanson, as well as all their children, are members of the Church of Christ. Their children are Mrs.

E. Hallmark (Zula), Mrs. Mike Walters (Lila Pearl), Wayne Johanson and Clyde Johanson all of Cherokee; Dale Johanson of Three Rivers; and iDouglas Johanson of Spokane, Washington. They also have 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In observance of their wedding anniversary the couple were showered with some 150 cards by their many friends and relatives.

Algerita HD Club Has Regular Meeting The Algerita Home tion Club met Thursday, September 29, at the Community building for their regular meeting. Recreation was led by George Walker followed with a regular business meeting wfitti, Mrs. Jackie Casbeer, vice-presi- dent, presiding in the absence of; the president. Mrs. Casbeer gavQ an interesting talk from information she had obtained while attending a Civil Defense meeting recently.

Mrs. Bernice Murray, county home demonstration agent, gave the program, "How to be the, Level IJvfRjg in today's world required, "To, lave a healthy personality we must learn to balance our respon-. sibilities and capabilities to help us be calm and d.o our best," stat- id Mrs. Murray. Mrs.

Welmaker Circle Has Meeting at Church The Welmaker Circle of thei First Baptist Church in 'San Saba met Monday, September 19 at 7:30 at the church. The devotional was led by Mrs. Floyd Sloan, Mrs. T. J.

'Stewart, program chairman, was in charge of the program, "Week of Those assisting with the program were Mrs. George Nails, Mrs. Allen Hill, Mrs. Zack Wells and Miss Mae Edmondson. Mrs.

S. G. 'Boyton was in charge of the business meeting in which officers were elected. They are as follows: Circle Chairman, Mrs. S.
