Thomas, 93, of Marshalltown died of leukemia Monday at Embers Retirement Home there.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines, with entombment at Merle Hay Mausoleum here. Mrs. Thomas was born in Des Moines and had lived here many years before moving to Marshalltown in 1986. She had worked for the lowa Department of Revenue before retiring and was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Des Moines and Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown.

She enjoyed needlework and crafts. She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis D. Funk of Marshalltown; a son, Bert Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Edith Gee of Flannigan, six grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to lowa River Hospice or Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. NORMAN DILLEY Eldora Norman L. Dilley, 62, of Eldora died of a heart ailment Monday at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in lowa Falls.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, with burial at New Providence Cemetery in New Providence. Mr. Dilley was born in Pocahontas County, W.Va., and had lived in West Virginia as a youth. He had lived in various locations before moving to Eldora in 1971.

He was a retired journeyman linesman with Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 55 and an Army veteran. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by a son, Robert of Eldora; a daughter, Wendy Lawrence of West Des Moines; a brother, Darrel of Vinegrove, two half brothers, Albert Smith of Denver, and James Smith of Marlinton, W.Va.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.

GRETCHEN RAUSENBERGER Bradenton, Fla. Gretchen M. Rausenberger, 96, of Bradenton, died of a heart ailment Sunday at Summerfield Retirement Center there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in lowa Falls, of which she was a member.

Burial will be at Union Cemetery there. Mrs. Rausenberger was born in Goldfield and had lived in lowa Falls before moving to Florida in 1996. She had been a high school music teacher in Fairfield, Dumont and Alden and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Ascension Chapter 158 in Eldora. She is survived by two sons, Richard of Clinton and Robert of Williamsburg, eight grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frantz. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the time of services Friday at the church. Linn's Funeral Home in Iowa Falls is handling arrangements. Paid Memorial Obituary Ilene Jane Harris Ilene Jane Harris, age 74 or rural Carlisle, passed on February 24, 2002 from pulmonary fibrosis. She died at her winter residence in Green Valley, AZ.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Indianola on March 1st at 2.0 p.m. Interment of ashes will be in Mantorville, MN. She was a member of the Palmyra Stitchery and Birthday Clubs. Ilene continued farming in the rural Carlisle area after her husband's death. She is survived by two daughters: Jeanne (Bill) Gilbert of Las Cruces, NM and Jane Harris of Lawrence, KS.

Mary's Tucson, AZ 85745. LESLIE HOLCOMB Eldora Eldora Leslie "Red" Holcomb, 86, of Eldora died of cancer Tuesday at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit in Grundy Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Congregational Church Christ in Eldora, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery there.

Mr. Holcomb was born in Berlin, and had lived in Eldora many years. He had been a truck driver and also had worked for Civilian Conservation Corps Company 2717 in Hampton. He was an Army veteran and member of Walter-Sayer American Legion Post 182. He is survived by two daughters: Patricia Harrison of New Windsor, N.Y., and Barbara Iribeck of Coon Rapids; five grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Cedar Valley Hospice. ELAINE DEAN Marshalltown Elaine G.

Dean, 91, of Marshalltown died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Grandview Heights Care Center there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Marshalltown, with burial at Riverside Cemetery there. Mrs. Dean was born in Grinnell and had lived in Marshalltown most her life.

She also had lived in San Diego two years. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She was an avid sports 1 fan. A sister, Ardene McKeag of Marshalltown, survives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald.

Friends may call an hour prior to the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elaine G. Dean Memorial Fund. PATRICIA SCHWARTZ Johnston Patricia Louis Schwartz, 75, of the 6100 block of Northwest 59th Court, Johnston, died of a lung ailment Monday at Mercy Hospice there. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday at Merle Hay Funeral Home. Burial of the cremains will be at Glendale Cemetery. Miss Schwartz was born in Chariton and had lived in the Des Moines area most of her life. She had been the owner of Urbandale Beauty Salon and enjoyed flowers and gardening. A brother, William Schwartz, survives.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Paid Memorial Obituary Thomas A. "Bud" Fuson Thomas A. "Bud" Fuson, 74, of Merced, CA died February 13, 2002 at Mercy Community Hospital in Merced. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 2 at Granger United Methodist Church.

Private burial. Mr. Fuson was born July 13, 1927 in Buxton, IA. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was involved with the European Theater.

While employed by Rockdine Company, Mr. Fuson worked with the booster rockets that helped with landing on the moon. Mr. Fuson also owned S.T.W. testing and environmental testing for some 20 years.

He loved fishing and was an avid Bronco fan. He is survived by a daughter, Francine Williams, of Merced, CA; a son, William Fuson of Littleton, CO; sisters, Dolores Hawbaker of Houston, TX, Donna Taylor of Woodward, IA, Pearl Bradish of Des Moines; brothers, Leroy, Donald, Chuck, and Robert Fuson of Granger, Larry Fuson of LaPorte City, IA, Jerry Fuson of Kansas City, MO; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. "Luke" Roth, 48, of the 600 block of 50th Street died of cancer Tuesday at lowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Augustin's Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Roth was born in Webster Groves, and had lived in Des Moines since 1979. He was the manager of franchise development with Medicap Pharmacies Inc. He had been the director of President Bush's presidential caucus in lowa, a district administrator for Congressman Greg Ganske and a past director of the lowa Republican Party. He was a member Rotary Club and St.

Augustin's Board of Education and a former Cub Scout leader. He enjoyed politics and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is survived by his wife, Katie; a son, Luke, and two daughters, Anne Roth and Clare Roth, all at home; and a sister, Sherry Roth Jones of Traverse City, Mich. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m.

Walker, 61, of Newton died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Skiff Medical Center there. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, with burial at Newton Union Cemetery. Mr. Walker was born in Knoxville and had lived in Wilcox, and Rock Springs, before moving to Newton in 1977.

He was a retired U.S. Postal clerk in Newton and also had been a banker with Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona. He was a Boy Scout cub master and had served on the board of Jasper County Federal Employees Credit Union. He enjoyed family activities. He is survived by his wife, Ina; three sons, Larry Jackie and Kristopher, and three daughters, Laurie Smith, Tracie Lisk and Trisha Guthrie, all of Newton; two brothers, Michael of Rock Springs, and Robert of Englewood, a sister, Margaret Ann DuChene of Ames; and 15 grandchildren.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. Friday at Pence Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry M. Walker Memorial Fund. DONALD DUDLEY Bagley Donald "Dick" Dudley, 78, of rural Bagley died of a heart ailment Tuesday at home.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at -Twigg Funeral Home in Panora, with burial at Brethren Cemetery there. Mr. Dudley was born in Panora and had lived in Guthrie County all his life. He had been a farmer.

TRIPOLI William Kuker, 81. Sister Mary Healey, former vice principal at Dowling, dies Mary Adeleita Healey, 97, of Dubuque died of congestive heart failure Tuesday at Marian Hall there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Marian Hall Chapel in Dubuque, with burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery there. Sister Mary Adeleita was born in Davenport.

She had been a vice principal and counselor at St. Joseph Academy and vice principal at Dowling High School and a teacher and administrator at Catholic high schools in Davenport, Chicago and St. Paul, Minn. She was member of the Sisters of Charity, BVM, for 78 years. A nephew, Richard Healey of Davenport, survives.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Marian Hall Chapel in Dubuque, where a prayer service, will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity, BVM, Retirement Fund, 1100 Carmel Drive, Dubuque, IA 52003. Miller Funeral Home in East Dubuque, is handling arrangements. HERBERT WULF Exira Herbert William Wulf, 86, of Exira died of a respiratory infection Sunday at Exira Care Center.

The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira, of which he was a member. Burial of the cremains will be at Exira Cemetery. Mr. Wulf was born near Exira and had lived in the area most of his life.

He was a farmer and a bookkeeper and appliance repairman with Emmert Mfg. Co. and Schuler Mfg. Co. before retiring.

He was a member of Audubon County Conservation Club, Elks in Atlantic, Audubon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4119 and Ballou American Legion Post in Exira. He enjoyed reading, gardening and family activities. He is survived by his wife, Daleth; a daughter, Susan Osvald of Exira; a son, John of Audubon; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends after 7 p.m. Friday at Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

THELMA ERNST Ames Thelma L. Ernst, 92, of Ames died of a heart ailment Tuesday at the Abington on Grand there. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, with burial at Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery there. Mrs.

Ernst had lived in Ames all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Community Church. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and crocheting for family members. She is survived by three sons, Robert of Bedford, Ronald of Lake Park and Charles of Dixon, five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Purl.

FORMER RESIDENTS Here is information about the deaths of former central lowa residents who moved from the area more than 20 years ago: Verlyn Loyal Gilbert, 87, of Dayton, died of a heart ailment Friday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Earlham Church of Christ in Earlham.

Mr. Gilbert was born in Earlham and had lived there and in Madison County before moving to Nevada 30 years ago. He was a retired maintenance worker with the state of Nevada Forestry Service. Ronald C. Baughman, 61, of Elgin, S.C., died of cancer Feb. 12 at Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia, S.C. The body was cremated, and memorial services were held Feb. 16 in Columbia.

Mr. Baughman was born in Russell and had lived in Indianola as a youth. He had lived in Missouri before moving to South Carolina many years ago. He was a professor, graduate director and division chair in media arts at the University of South Carolina. Private burial of the cremains will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Mrs. Glomset had lived in Des Moines all her life. She was a homemaker, a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and a 50-year member of PEO. She was a founding board member of the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines and had supported music through the Civic Music Association.

She had served on the Drake University Scholarship Selection Committee and was a supporter of Drake Municipal Observatory, which was established by her father. She enjoyed music, needlework and making afghans for family members. She is survived by her husband, Dan; two daughters, Martha Schwen of La Crescent, and Carol Bard of Athens, W.Va.; a son, Leif of San Rafael, five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends at Wesley Grand following memorial services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Frances Morehouse Glomset Drake University Observatory Fund or Wesley Acres Good Samaritan Fund.

JOHN OATMAN Boone John H. Oatman, 76, of Boone died of congestive heart failure Tuesday at home. The body was cremated, and services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Boone, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Linwood Cemetery there.

Mr. Oatman was born in Albion, and had lived in Norfolk, before moving to Boone in 1969. He was a retired agent telegrapher and train dispatcher with the Chicago and North Western Railway and a member of American Legion, AARP, NARVE and Morse Code Club. He was a Master Mason with Mount Olive Masonic Lodge 79 and a former Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with stained glass He is survived by his wife, Betty; three sons, Terry of Boone, Brad of Huntington Beach, and Mark of Fairway, a daughter, Debbie Hanus of Tama; two brothers, Lynn of Elkton, and Keith of South Sioux City, a sister, Gwen Hammond of Philomoth, six grandchildren; a great-grandchild.

JAMES O'ROAKE Newton James Donald "Butcher Boy" O'Roake, 85, of Newton died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Heritage Manor Care Center there. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, of which he was a member.

Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mr. O'Roake had lived in Jasper County all his life. He was a retired salesman with lowa Industrial Products and an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; a son, Mike of Des Moines; a daughter, Kate Ryther of Newton; four stepdaughters, Carol Blackwood of Newton and Peggy Hall, Mary Mahedy and Susan Bebout, all of Des Moines; a brother, Francis of Newton; 19 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Allene. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
