The annual banquet was held at the cafeteria at Mexia High School. Employers Of Area Honored EMPLOYERS HONORED Employers of the Mexia area were honored Friday night at a three- clubs banquet held at Mexia High School.

The occasion was the annual employer appreciation night banquet sponsored by members of the DECA, VICA, and VOE clubs of the vocational section of Mexia High School. Members of three of Mexia High School's vocational clubs honored emolovers anri onsors in an annual joint banquet at Mexia High School, Friday evening. The DECA- VICA-VOE banquet was held in the school cafeteria. Presiding over the banquet meeting was Jimmy Ingram, president of DECA, with the invocation given by Darlene Adams, treasurer of VOE. Pledge of allegiance was led by Karen Cobb Nance, treasurer of DECA, and Linda Fogleman, president of VOE gave the welcome to guests.

Recognition of training sponsors was by Becky Copeland, Patsy Willis, and Billy Shugart. Linda York introduced special guests for the evening, and John Bonner introduced the speaker for the evening, Ed Kidd. Dale Brown, vocational school director and Superintendent B.E. Oberholtzer spoke to the guests, and Mark Prowel, secretary of DECA, gave the benediction. Sponsors and employers, together with members of the advisory committees of the three organizations, were honored at the banquet.

PUBLISHED WEEKLY BY THE JOURNALISM CLASS OF MEXIA IN CO-OPERATION WITH THE MEXIA DAILY NEWS 1 H' Rosebud Names Trio To State Three members of the Rosebud Chapter of Future Homemaker of America have been selected to attend the State Future Homemaker of America meeting which is to be held in Fort Worth, April 20-22, at the Fort Wroth Convention Center. Rosebud members attending are: Kathy Nunley, Mexia High School senior; Brenda Speights, sophomore; and Evelyn Reed, junior.

These members were chosen on a basis of being the three members with the highest amount of points earned through active participation in ail activities sponsored by the club. The students will be accompanied by their sponsor, Mrs. Velma Ransom, teacher of Homemaking I and II classes at MHS. Valda Beasley. Boyd Is Best For Linksters At Golf Meet The Mexia High School Golf Team, coached by Truman Mclntyre, finished sixth in a field of 13 teams at the district golf tournament at Temple, April 1112.

Team total for the 36 holes was 639. Eddie Boyd led the local linksters with a low score of 165. Craig Carlson shot a 172; Steve Schultz, 177; Kenny Jones, 179; and Jim Ramsey, 186. The four best scores were combined to obtain the team score. Finishing ahead of Mexia were Terrell, Marlin, Duncanville, Ennis, and Athens.

Terrell and Marlin advance to regional. Individual honors went to Billy Perot of Athens and Kenny Mims of Duncanville. Perot shot a 153 while Mims recorded a 154. Both will attend the regional tournament. -Carol Craft.

WACO JOURNEY Most of Mexia High School's juniors and seniors made a bus trip to Waco, Monday to hear Dr. Kenneth McFariand, nationally-known speaker, discuss America and its way of life at the Civic Center. The 61 total for the fifth six weeks period compares to 71 for the preceding six weeks, and is one of the smallest honor rolls for some time.

Freshmen led the list with 24 members. Sophomores had 11 honorees; juniors had four qualified and signed up, and Seniors listed 22 as honor students for the period. Ross Report 70 Top On School Honor List A total of 70 students qualified during the fifth six weeks of the current school for the Honor Roll at Ross Elementary School, it was reported this weekend from the office of Principal R.Q. Of the 70, 28 were Third Grade honorees, and 42 were members of the Fourth Grade. Lettermen In Planning For Spring Picnic The Mexia High School Letterman's Club held a meeting Tuesday, April 11, in the varsity dressing room.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the annual picnic initiation. Members chose April 29 for the date of the picnic. The site is yet to be decided. Committees were also appointed for various functions in preparing for the initiation and the picnic to follow. Members appointed to the initiation committee are as follow: Mickey Austin, Butch Newhouse, Eddie Boyd, John Willis, David McFall, Don Sims, Steve Hill, Ivan Jackson, and Steve Young.

The committee for food is made up of the following members: Johnny McClure, Joel Parker, Mike Danz, and Willie Childs. Mickey Austin, president of the club, presided over the Newhouse. The Art Club of Mexia High School, sponsored by Mrs. Martha Bell, is making plastic flowers for the TSTA Banquet to be held Thursday, April 20 at 6:00 p. m.

The Program Committee recently in order to decide on progects lor the remainder of the school year. Members decided to make different items for themselves. The Plastic Flowers which are being prepared for the banquet are made from fantasy films. Art I and II classes are also helping toward the project. An Art Show is planned for the first week in May by the Art I and II classes.

The display will consist of samples of all the art they have studied this school year.
