During the short business session, the following officers were Kirby Hydcn, president; Mrs.

Edna Herod, secretary; Mrs. Mary Hydcn, treasurer; Special guests for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clancy and family who gave Mr. and Mrs.

Boyd Denman and daughter, Sharon, Rev. and Mrs, Bill Thompson, Mrs. Ethel Asher, Mrs. Cecil Asher, Carolyn Asher, Mr. and Mrs.

Joe Clancy, Sandra, Judy, Mr. and Mrs. Noble Bates, and Doyle Hodges, all of Mexia. Mrs. Gertrude Boatler, Mr.

and Mrs. G. A. Clancy, of Thornton; Mr. and Mrs.

Lorain Cheney, Mike and Janie, Bay- entertaining music for the oc-jtown, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Jones, casion. The day was spent vis-; King, making movies and singing. A bountiful feast was served at noon.

and Mrs. Pascal Hy- Calloway Reunion Scheduled Here The annual Calloway family reunion will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Mexia National Guard armory, C. W. Chilcoat announced today. Several family members from California have already arrived for the two-day reunion.

A number of interesting games were enjoyed before the picnic supper was served. The birthday cake was decorated in the form of a ballerina doll holding the birthday candles.

Plate favors were beach balls. The honoree was remembered with lovely gifts. The baby weighed six pounds and eleven ounces and was named Bruce Woody. The new arrival was welcom ed by a brother, Brett, four and one half years old. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. B.

Too, the Oglawanagi team members and parents will appreciate your helping them out while helping yourself. It never hurts to come look and see if you won't find what you want. Plays, Concerts Festival of Roses At Hodges Gardens Two plays a twilight concert, the 1964 Festival of Roses and a Conservation Conclave scheduled through October the program of special events at Hodges Gardens, the Chautaqua of the Pine Hills, which opens each year with the famed Easter Sunrise Service and continues through the Christmas season. Held on the lakeshore stage of the Nona Trigg Hodges Memorial Theatre, the "al fresco" programs have already included Puccini's light opera, "Madame Butterfly," the annual spring concert by the Centenary College Choir and the fourth annual Arts and Crafts Festival.

July will mark the presentation of two dramas by the Northwestern State College Summer Workshop of Nalchito- ches, under the direction of Dr. Edna West. The first will be Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew" July 10 11 follow ed by "Ring Round the Moon," a modern drama, July 24 25. A concert by the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra under the direction of John Shenaut will hail the third annual Louisiana Festival of Roses and the fall plantations of flowers in the Gardents in October. Held on night of October 3, the concert will be a highpoint in the 1964 Festival of Roses October 2 4, which is sponsored by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation with Mrs.

Frank L. Jordan of New Iberia president and Mrs. Edwin B. Beckman of Alexandria chairman. The annual event will feature outstanding exhibits of specimen roses and design arrangements.

While the design competition is by invitation only to the top designers in member-clubs of the Louisiana Federation, the horticultural division of specimen blooms is open to amateur rose growers throughout the Southwest. Immediately following the Rose Festival, the Federation will hold its first Conservation Conclave October 4-6 with Mrs. John Creed of Shreveport as chairman. "From the Ground is the theme, and the conclave will include lectures and field trips pointing up good conservation pratices of soil, water, woodland and wildlife. Mrs.
