Des Moines Register GC OBITUARIES ALMANAC Wednesday, September 11, 2002 Page 5B ALFREDA SWENSON Stratford Alfreda Orvella Swenson, 83, of Stratford died of complications of Alzheimer's disease Monday at Stratford Care Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Story City Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Swenson was born in Hamilton County and had lived in Oakland, West Des Moines and Story City before moving to Stratford in 1996. She had been a retail saleswomen, clerical worker and a librarian with the West Des Moines school system. She was a member of Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Laura Jacobson of West Des Moines; a son, Steve of Jasper, six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the time of services today at the church. Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City is handling arrangements. RICHARD MARSHALL Des Moines Richard D. Marshall, 54, of the 3100 block of East Seventh Street died of a heart ailment Monday at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Marshall was born in Boone and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He enjoyed boating and fishing.

He is survived by two daughters, Robyne Clement of Pleasant Hill and Ashley Dunagan of Des Moines; two sons, Jacob Dunagan and John Dunagan, both of Des Moines; his father and stepmother, Henry and Marlene Marshall of Mena, two sisters, Kathy Munn of Tucson, and Vicki Wegner of Johnston; three brothers, Randall of Urbandale, William of Royal Oak, and Scott of Lisle, and a grandchild. His companion was Cheryl Dunagan of Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richard Marshall Memorial Fund.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Mr. Frazier was born in Richland and had lived in Grinnell and Marshalltown before moving to Las Vegas in 1999. He was a retired chef at Grinnell College.

He is survived by a son, Max of Cmano Island, a daughter, Janice R. Frazier of Las Vegas; and five step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Farrell, 77, of the 1800 block of 78th Street, Windsor Heights, died of complications of Parkinson's disease Monday at Trinity Center at Luther Park. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Mr. Farrell was born in Jeffersonville, and had lived in Des Moines and West Des Moines before moving to Windsor Heights 43 years ago.

He was the retired owner and operator of Farrell Opticians, a Navy veteran of World War and a member of the lowa Opticians Association and a member and past president of the National Academy of Opticianry. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and flying airplanes. He is survived by his wife, June; two sons, Brian of Des Moines and Patrick of Windsor Heights; a daughter, Judith Leibold of Waterloo; two sisters, Betty Blank of Milwaukee and Jean Nekich of Coral Gables, a brother, Jacke Farrell of Des Moines; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. ILAMAE GULDBERG llamae Guldberg, 78, of Boone died of complications of a stroke Friday at Boone County Hospital there. The body was donated to the University of lowa Anatomy Department in lowa City. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Hampton, of which she was a member. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Tripoli, la.

Mrs. Guldberg was born in Hampton and had lived there and in Boone all her life. She was a retired registered nurse with Boone County Hospital and had served in the U.S. Cadet Nurses Corps during World War She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed cooking and playing cards. She is survived by four sons, Donald Riker of Hampton, Richard Riker of Jewell and John Riker and Stephen Riker, both of Boone; a brother, Irving Klousia Jr.

of Carson City, 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce W. Borchert. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the time of memorial services Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel in Boone is handling arrangements. REUBEN COOPER Knoxville Reuben "Andy" Cooper, 79, of Knoxville died of a heart ailment Saturday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial, with military rites, will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Mr. Cooper was born in Harvard and had lived in Des Moines many years before moving to Knoxville 12 years ago. He also had lived in Pleasantville 10 years. He was a retired food service worker with Veterans Medical Center and an Army veteran of World War He enjoyed automobiles, fishing and watching westerns and wrestling. He is survived by two sons, Gary of Knoxville and William of Des Moines; and two sisters, Erma Dodson of Bucklin, and Dorothy Wright of Jonesboro, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Evans Cooper. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. LOLA WILSON Iowa Falls Lola C.M. Wilson, 82, of lowa Falls died Monday at Rolling Green Nursing Home in Nevada, of complications of a broken hip.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Buckeye, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Buckeye Cemetery. Mrs.

Wilson was born near Alden and had lived there and in the Buckeye area most of her life. She was a retired postal clerk with the Buckeye Post Office and a member of Lutheran Ladies Aide. She is survived by two sons, Dennis of Alden and Robert of Altoona; two daughters, Betty Kuhlmann of Tulsa, and Patricia Olinger of Nevada; a sister, Velma Peterson of Lemon Grove, 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garold. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

today at Surls Funeral Home in lowa Falls. FLOYD WILSON Winterset Floyd L. Wilson, 81, of Winterset died of a liver ailment Sunday at Mercy HospiceJohnston. The body was cremated, and graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at New Virginia Cemetery in New Virginia.

Mr. Wilson was born in New Virginia and had lived in Creston, Norwalk and St. Charles before moving to Winterset. He had worked for Massey Ferguson before retiring and was an Army Corps of Engineers veteran of World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge and St.

Charles Saddle Club. He enjoyed gardening and traveling. He is survived by his wife, June; two daughters, Ginny Schmit of Omaha and Peggy Halterman of Martensdale; a son, Allen of Birmingham, a sister, Janice Euritt of Des Moines; and six grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice-Johnston. RUTH DAYTON Grinnell Ruth Ann Dayton, 71, of Grinnell died of Lou Gehrig's disease Sunday at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, with burial at Hazelwood Cem- etery there. Mrs. Dayton had lived in Grinnell all her life.

She was a homemaker and had worked for Pagilia's Pizza in Grinnell before retiring. She was a member of Marian Study Club, Chatterton Street Coffee Club, MAC Chorus and her church's choir and altar and rosary society. She enjoyed music and singing. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; four sons, John and Tom, both of Grinnell, Mark of West Des Moines and Jim of Urbandale; six daughters, Mary Jo Seaton of Brooklyn, Diane Kinseth of Independence, Louise Billmeyer and Carol Schmidt, both of Ankeny, Ellen Hoffman of Johnston and Teresa Dayton of Norwalk; and 24 grandchildren. Sudbeck, 68, of Ames died of cancer Monday at Israel Family Hospice House there. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames, of which he was a member. Burial of the cremains will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Sudbeck was born in Crofton, and had lived in lowa Falls before moving to Ames in 1966. He had spent his winters in Mission, Texas. He was a retired accountant at lowa State University and also had worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was an Air Force veteran and enjoyed rock collecting, bird watching and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Clara; a daughter, Karen Rutz of Cedar Rapids; a son, Mike of Longmont, six brothers, Irvin of Norfolk, Duane and Harold, both of Sioux City, Merlyn Bud" of Tustin, Bob of Eden Prairie, and Don of Omaha; a sister, Charlotte Bohlin of Pender, and four grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roy Wright Memorial Fund. DARLENE IKERD Clarksville, Tenn. Darlene Ikerd, 85, of Clarksville, died of a heart attack Sept. 4 at Gateway Medical Center there. Services will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday at Beidelman-Twigg Funeral Home in Panora. Cremation will follow services. Mrs. Ikerd was born in Washington Township and had lived in Perry 24 years before moving to Clarksville in 1991. She was a retired resident treatment worker with Woodward State Hospital and enjoyed professional wrestling.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Arnold of Perry, Delores Stanek of Scranton and Christine Jacobson of Clarksville; a son, Dale of Perry; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren. Fridlington was born in Pee Wee Valley, and had lived in Kentucky as a youth. She had lived in Knoxville many years. She was a retired special education teacher and librarian with the Knoxville school system and a member of the American Association of University Women and the lowa State and National Education associations. She is survived by her husband, David; three daughters, Amanda Fridlington of Coralville and Julie Fridlington and Emily Fridlington, both of Galveston, Texas; her mother, Bernice Whitfield of Knoxville; and a sister, Rebecca Riley of Corpus Christi, Texas. Mrs. Hyde was born in Montezuma and had lived in Des Moines many years. She also had lived in Albia 12 years. She had been a telemarketer with CDS and was a member of Jehovah's Witness. She enjoyed duck hunting, camping and crocheting.

She is survived by two sons, Richard and Edward both of Des Moines; two daughters, Margie Jones of Carlisle and Glenda Bennett of Des Moines; two brothers, Forest Olcott and Ramel Olcott, both of Polk City; three sisters, Beth Hyde, Marilyn Parson and Imogene Toole, all of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; and 31 greatgrandchildren. MELVA REEL Perry Melva Arlene Reel, 90, of Perry died of a heart ailment Monday at Perry Health Center. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Private burial of the cremains will be at a later date at Dallas Township Cemetery in Dawson. Ms.

Reel had lived in Dawson all her life before moving to Perry 13 years ago. She was a retired medical secretary and a member of Dawson United Methodist Church. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and watching soap operas. Two brothers, Claire McCrory of Davenport and Wendell McCrory of Concord, survive. Friends may call after 9 a.m.

MARVEL KONRAD Knoxville Marvel Mae Konrad, 96, of Knoxville died of cancer Monday at Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle. The body was cremated, and graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville.

Mrs. Konrad was born in Russell and had lived i in the Melcher-Dallas area 10 years before moving to Knoxville 40 years ago. She was a homemaker and a retired schoolteacher. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Conant of Carlisle; two sisters, Ruth LaRue of Chariton and Velma Preskitt of Knoxville; and a brother, George Werts of Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester.

TOBIAS PALMER-ESPINO Des Moines Tobias Lowell Palmer-Espino, son of Larisa Palmer and Adan Espino of the 1700 block of 26th Street, was stillborn Saturday at lowa Lutheran Hospital.
