17: State of Iowa vs. Gruemmer. In the first case set for trial Ada Dean Havner, Glen Ferguson and Claude Ferguson Ferguson, as dians of Bridget A. are seeking to appeal from the appraisal proceedings instituted by the Iowa State Highway Commission in January, 1938. At that lime the appraisal commission appraised a strip of land along the Lincoln highway west or Mechanicsville, amounting 10 approximately one which is owned by the plainuff, Ada Dean Havner, and upon the plaintiff, Bridget A.

Ferguson, holds a mort. gage. The plaintills seek the sum of $10.041.50 as damages by reason of the appraisement, charging that the Highway commission not seek the land for the purpose of improving the highway but to harass the plaintiffs and prevent them from constructing a filling 1 Since moving to new location, a definite interest has been. in library work at Letts. Utilizing the old bank building as its present headquarters the library is now centrally located and easily accessible to all who.

Pearl Taylor observed the 82nd anniversary of her birthday Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Kimball. She is the daughter of Zachery and Sarah Cooper Taylor and was born in Perryton township, Oct. 30. 1857, in the residence built her father.

Mrs. Taylor was married fo John R. Taylor of Kansas Aug. 31, 1882, in the home of her parents near Hamlet. The Fisk performing the ceremony.
