Viola lowered his season ERA to West Palm Beach (55-45) is second in the Southern Division behind Fort Lauderdale and has 10 games remaining with the Yankees.

The defending league champions, reminding West Palm Beach what it is up against if it intends to win the league crown this season, defeated the Expos 4-1 Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium. "They have a very solid ball-club," said Expos manager Felipe Alou.

"They play tough defense all good gloves in the infield and they have enough offense to win." St. Petersburg, winner of seven-of-eight games with the Expos this season, defeated West Palm Beach three games to one in last season's championship series. The minor-league club with the best record is Springfield, the Cardinals' other Class A club. Ore.
