Moines Sunday Register GC OBITUARIES ALMANAC Sunday, June 10, 2001 Page 118 PHYLLIS LAY RAYMOND HIPPEN Carroll Wellsburg Raymond A. Hippen, 71, of Wellsburg died of cancer Thursday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Reformed Church in Wellsburg, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery there.

Mr. Hippen was born in Grundy County and had lived in the Wellsburg area most of his life. He had been a farmer and enjoyed leather craft and woodworking. Several of his creations had been on display at Camp Sunnyside. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Marilyn Adelmund of Parkersburg and Donna Crosser of lowa Falls; a son, Arnold of Flandreau, S.D.; a brother, Delbert of Wellsburg; a sister, Anna Marie Card of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg, where re the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. AMBROS DELGADO Newton Ambros "Charlie" Delgado, 49, of Newton died of a heart ailment Wednesday at home. The body will be cremated, and services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, of which he was a member.

Mr. Delgado was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and had lived in Ankeny, Mason City and Waco before moving to Newton 14 years ago. He was a teacher at Newton High School and a member of Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed coaching girls softball, basketball and track and boys soccer, cross country and swimming. He also enjoyed teaching foreign language.

He is survived by two sons, Philip of Rochester, and Scott of lowa City; his parents, Manuel and Concepcion Delgado of Mexico City; two sisters, Lourdes Blanco of Chicago and Connie Acosta of Mexico City; and five brothers, Manuel, Henry, Rudy and Jesse, all of Chicago, and Antonio of Seattle. Friends may call after 5:30 p.m. today at the church, where a wake will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Charlie Delgado Scholarship Fund. Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

JANICE McCULLOUGH West Des Moines Janice K. McCullough, 47, of the 200 block of 57th Court, West Des Moines, died of cancer Wednesday at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, of which she was a member.

Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Mrs. McCullough was born in West Point, and had lived in Omaha before moving to West Des Moines in 1993. She was a special education assistant with the West Des Moines school district. She enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; two sons, Chris and Phillip, both of West Des Moines; her Irene Baumert of Omaha; five sisters, Kathleen Baumann of Wheten, Mary Powers of Columbus, Peggy Schicker of Crestview, and Maxine McElligott a and Theresa Barber, both of Omaha; and two brothers, Rodney Baumert of Omaha and Ronald Baumert of Des Moines. The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Hamilton's Funeral Home, where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Cancer Center. Phyllis Lay, 76, of Carroll died of Alzheimer's disease Friday at home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Des Moines, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Mrs. Lay was born in Valley Junction and had lived in West Des Moines before moving to Carroll in 1978.

She had been an administrative assistant with her husband's CPA firm and was a member of Clio Club and PEO. She is survived by her husband, Paul; four sons, Thomas of Carroll, Gary of Bloomington, Douglas of St. Louis and David of New Virginia; a sister, Gloria Pohlad of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Deborah EricksonVenenga of Saylorville and Mary Erickson and Linda Erickson, both of Des Moines; his mother, Florence Rittgers of Jacksonville, a sister, Dixie Russell of Tallahassee, three brothers, Rob of St. Simeon Island, Rex of Jacksonville and John of Tallahassee; and two grandchildren. JILL COGHLAN Altoona Jill Ellen Coghlan, 46, of the 200 block of 12th Avenue Northwest, Altoona, died of complications of brain tumors Friday at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tues- day at Altoona United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Altoona Cemetery. Mrs.

Coghlan was born in Oskaloosa and had lived in Ankeny before moving to Altoona in 1986. She was a registered nurse with Mercy Medical Center and had been awarded the Catherine McAuley Distinguished Service Award. She is survived by her husband, Terry; two daughters, Angie Coghlan and Katie Coghlan, both her mother, Mary Harry of Montezuma; four sisters, Julie Lageveen, Mindy Johnston and Robin Bolen, all of Montezuma, and Lana Druvenga of Gilbert, two brothers, Mac Harry of Clive and Scott Harry of Long Beach, and a grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church.

Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery. Mr. Nogel was born in Pittsburg, and had lived in Oklahoma before moving to Des Moines 51 years ago. He was a retired principal with the Saydel school system. He was an Army veteran of World War and had been awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the National Education and 1 lowa State Education associations. While teaching high school in Commerce, he had coached Mickey Mantle. He also had coached Little League, Babe Ruth and Connie Mack teams in Des Moines He is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Gary of Overland Park, Steve of Omaha and Frank Jr. of Ankeny; two daughters, Sara Harris of Denver, Colo. and Patty Grove of Huxley; brother, Dutch of Colorado Springs, two sisters, Clovene Morrissey of New York City and Lu Jouras of Kansas City, and eight grandchildren.

AROL ROBERTS FISCEL Adel Arol Roberts Fiscel, 86, of Adel died of a heart ailment Thursday at Adel Acres Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Tuesday at First Christian Church in Perry, of which she was a member. Burial will be a Violet Hill Cemetery there. Mrs. Fiscel was born in Earlham a and had lived in Grundy Center 10 years and in Perry 34 years before moving to Adel 27 years ago. She was the retired owner and operator of a motel and a member of Monamity Circle of Kings' Daughters.

She collected antiques and teddy bears. She is survived by four sons, Jerry Roberts of Adel, Ray Roberts Jr. of Marshalltown, Bill Roberts of Clarion and Dick Roberts of Beaverton, a daughter, Kyla Roberts-Barber; a stepson, Leland; a sister, Ethel Melton of Adel; 15 grandchildren; and 18 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Roberts and Roscoe Fiscel. Friends may call after 2 p.m.

WESLEY FREVERT Fairfield Bay, Ark. Wesley David Frevert, 80, of Fairfield Bay, died of a stroke Wednesday at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m.

today at Fairfield Bay United Methodist Church in Fairfield Bay, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Mr. Frevert was born in Battle Creek and had lived in Des Moines before moving to Fairfield Bay 12 years ago. He had been an architect with Frevert, Ramsey and Kobes in Des Moines and was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Rotary Club and founder of Shirley Public School Foundation. He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Timothy of Jefferson City, and Theodore of Davenport; two brothers, John of Sun Lakes, and Jim of North Palm Beach, and four grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Shirley Public School Foundation or his church. Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, is handling arrangements. ROSELLA KLUG Radcliffe Rosella Klug, 91, of Radcliffe died of cancer Friday at Heritage Care Center in lowa Falls.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Radcliffe Cemetery. Mrs. Klug was born in Lakefield, and had lived in Radcliffe most of her life.

She had been a waitress at a local restaurant, a cook at Radcliffe School and had worked for Radcliffe Signal and Dr. Hess. She was a member of ALCW and a Sunday school teacher at her church. She is survived by two sons, Eugene of Stroughton, and Daniel of Carl Junction, two sisters, Clara Larson of Hubbard and Coral Berndt of lowa Falls; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Boeke Funeral Home in Radcliffe. FORMER RESIDENT Here is information about the death of a former central lowa resident who moved from the area more than 20 years ago: Martha L. Knott, 94, of Warwick, R.I., died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, R.I. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillon. Mrs. Knott was born in Le Grand and had lived in Titusville, before moving to Rhode Island nine years ago. She was a homemaker. Pursel-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Marshalltown is handling arrangements.

MILDRED GRIFFIN-LYDON Stuart Mildred GriffinLydon, 82, of Stuart died of a respiratory ailment Friday at Community Care Center there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church in Stuart, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery there. Mrs.

Griffin-Lydon was born in Adair and had lived in Ames many years before moving to Stuart in 1979. She was a retired federal secretary with the agronomy department at lowa State University and most recently was a secretary with St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames. She was a member of her church's Rosary and Altar Society and enjoyed music and flowers. She is survived by six stepdaughters, Colleen Gift of Freeport, Jean Kranzler of Urbandale, Ann Munch of Midland, Michol Lydon of Omaha, Linda Sisco of Lander, and Janet Isham of Toledo, Ohio; a stepson, Mart Lydon of Orangeville, two sisters, Eleanor Lydon of Savana, and Lillian Nordman of Urbandale; 15 stepgrandchildren; and three step-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lydon. Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at McLaren's Funeral Chapel in West Des Moines, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to the time of services Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the Alzheimer's Association. LEONARD ACKERLUND Madrid Leonard G. Ackerlund, 88, of Madrid died of cancer Friday at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid, with burial at Fairview Cemetery near there.

Mr. Ackerlund had lived in Madrid all his life. He was a retired lathe operator with John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny and a member of Garden Prairie United Church of Christ, Lions Club, Garden Club and Madrid Historical Society. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Viola; four daughters, Carlene Anderson of Nevada, Karen Anderson of Huxley, Carolyn Santi of West Des Moines and Kristin Yaple of Blue Springs, 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m.. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church or Madrid Historical Society. MARK WALSH Des Moines Mark Marvin Walsh, 48, of the 200 block of Fourth Street died of a heart attack Monday at home. The body was cremated, and no services are planned.

Mr. Walsh had lived in Des Moines since 1996. He worked for the Hotel Savery. There are no known survivors. Hamilton's Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
